Say What? Your Credit.........................

I just purchased a new car today, but before I did they of course ran my credit. So this guy says to me how did you like living in Georgia? Say what? I never lived in Georgia, but on my report it shows I lived in this small town in Georgia in 2006.

WTF?

If you put a fraud alert on your credit report, it will freeze your credit...not a good thing! PM me,Curt

you are entitled to look at all three credit reports from the three major agencies free of charge. go to

annual credit report dot com

NOT free credit report dot com. that is a business trying to sell you stuff. at any rate, go on the first of january, or your birthday, an easy date to remember. or when you file taxes, which is when i check mine. it's a good idea to check once a year so that any funny business can be cleared up, any mistakes, etc. if you feel once a year isn't enough-perhaps you should look into lifelock or some such thing. but for most, unless you've had compromised info, once a year is plenty.
also, if you ever file for credit and are turned down, you can get all three for free-but i don't recommend waiting til then.

or instead of taking all 3 at once, just request one in january, another in may and the 3rd in september.

you're entitled to 1 report from each credit agency/year. if you stagger the requests you have a better chance of catching a mistake or fraudulent activity earlier than if you order all 3 at once.

yeah, you could do that as well i'm sure. i've been doing it for a few years, haven't found an issue yet-which is a good thing!

No it doesn't ..it just means that they must verify with you that you are asking for a credit card or a loan..it doesn't freeze your credit.

Actually it does....This is why Lifelock is being sued for fraud by Experian, State of New Jersey, and others for putting fraud alerts on consumers(which
can only be done legally by consumer) The paperwork and process to unravel the mess is daunting tosay the least.

I don't know anything about Lifelock and how it works - but if you call Experian and telling them they want a fraud alert on your account- I've had one on my account for over 10 years-it forces the credit giver to call you and specifically confirm your request. I would say over the past 10 years they have found 5 or 6 times when someone was trying to get credit using my name or my address etc...during that 10 year period I have refi, leased a car etc...never a problem. In fact, my own bank had to call me and specifically ask if I was applying for a refi - because I had a fraud alert on my account.

For me it works!

It's good to see you keep up with protecting yourself....most don't know the game, or the perils of Identity Theft

I'd be willing to bet my entire life's savings that I have a better grasp of this topic than you. Especially considering how you were already wrong about it.

LOL...........You're killing me.

For you Yes that's all Ive got and I try to avoid your endless traps to argue beyond a reasonable debate.

What made me LOL was that we all have a picture ( where its true or not ) in our minds of each other and I really can't see you having a large live savings, much less a credit score to worry about. :D

So you would like to compare credit scores and bank accounts? This could be intresting if you can come up with a way to verify ones claim. I would be willing to bet my credit score is higher than yours and the loser leaves the forum for ever.

No he didn't. He spoke of his situation, and because he was pro-active about his credit and follows up yearly then he's on top of possible problems.

Despite the constant media blitz about IDT, many folks are ill-advised and unprepared for breaches into credit, medical and SS fraud.

My point here is that I have first hand experience (multiple times) with identity fraud. What Dimmy was saying was incorrect (as usual) and I was curious if he was ever right about anything. To my knowledge he isn't. Now, you can think whatever you'd like about my financial status. I don't have to prove anything to anyone here. Especially some dumbfucl< that is a glorified parrot.

Dont get sore little man.
