Race Photo Trivia

There are 10 runners showing in this photo.. some only by silks.. one by just a cap.. name them all..

When I click on properties it says Yappie winning the San Vincente ... but it sure the hell isn't that race ... as he was never clear on the lead at any point in a desperate win.... oh yeah .. and that isn't Santa Anita.

Looks like the '94 NYRA Mile.

Cigar winning. Devil His Due the black horse in the shadow roll in 2nd and Punch Line the gray horse on the outside in the white cap. Not really sure after that.

3 for 3 so far.. good call with Punch Line..

Yeah, I named it Yappy for anyone that would do the right click... Yappy ended up being sold to Robert Perez later in his career with a few other slobs Paulson couldnt be bothered with anymore..

Robert Perez owned the horse in the far right of the picture.. he ran last in that years Belmont Stakes..

As soon as I saw the photo I knew it was Cigar winning the NYRA Mile. Here is my guess:

Cigar
Devil His Due
Punch Line
Storm Tower
Harlin
Key Contender
American Chance
Bertrando
Itaka
Brunswick

And yes I did have to watch the race and google it but I couldn't find the chart for the race.

By the way this is a cool idea. I'll have to look through some of my photos and see I can come up with a photo for a trivia questions.

Take out Bertrando for Ulises and that's the field...

KirisClown 02-15-2009 10:48 AM

Chart is Wrong on Cigar being a Colt he might as well be listed as a Gelding.

Stumped me.

All I could come up with were:

Al Wahush (Sp)

or With Anticipation

The Indomitable DrugS 02-15-2009 08:46 PM

Name the horse that is trying to take a bite out of the meaty jew...

The Indomitable DrugS 02-15-2009 08:47 PM

And please ... no pictures of that guy with Big Brown in this thread.

joeydb 02-16-2009 06:19 AM

I'm glad you guys weren't my professors in college. Great stuff, but there's no way one photo is enough for me to identify the contenders.

The Indomitable DrugS 02-16-2009 05:03 PM

The silks can be a pretty big tipoff.

Or in Royal Mountain Inn's case ... his color.

KirisClown 02-16-2009 06:49 PM

Name both...

The Indomitable DrugS 02-16-2009 07:16 PM

Sky Colony on the inside and Yagli on the outside in the Dixie.

KirisClown 02-16-2009 07:30 PM

You got the name of the race right... but not the horses..

The Indomitable DrugS 02-16-2009 07:46 PM

Strut the Stage in the Sam Son colors and Del Mar Show in the Paulson colors.

That was pretty devious of you man. Of course, had I studied the pic a little I'd have noticed Robby Albarado on the SSF horse. I don't think he rode Sky Colony.

KirisClown 02-16-2009 07:51 PM

There ya go.. you redeemed yourself..

Nice Caligula avatar....

The Indomitable DrugS 02-16-2009 08:07 PM

Somewhere ...

Morty is smiling.

KirisClown 02-17-2009 04:09 PM

Name both...

TheSpyder 02-17-2009 04:49 PM

The horse in front is the #3, the horse behind is the #4. You guys really know your stuff and amaze me with your memory.

I can't make out the track, silks or jockeys at all

KirisClown 02-18-2009 04:09 PM

It's Saratoga... 1990s

Holland Hacker 02-18-2009 04:12 PM

I'm thinking the track is Saratoga.

I think the horse on the inside is a Claiborne Runner perhaps Forty Niner winning the Sanford Stakes.

I do not know who finished second.

KirisClown 02-18-2009 05:43 PM

You have the owner of the inside horse right...

It's not Forty Niner though...
