Quick Question: When there is a scoring race on a Saturday then Monday, like this weekend, do they allow you do change active horses on Sunday in time for the Monday races?

i doubt it. you usually have to activate so many, and that's who ya get for the wknd-in this case, a three day wknd.

you guys have fun with that contest. i found it to be frustrating more than fun, due to situations like the one above. you'll find weeks when you have more horses than you can play, and weeks when you have no one running, and no way to earn points.

mclem0822 02-12-2009 08:23 PM

I just got in......

Best of luck all!

XIIPointStables 02-13-2009 06:44 AM

I tried to email RTTR but no response yet at all. It would change how I look at my stable if we could swap out horses Sunday...

jwkniska 02-13-2009 04:35 PM

good luck to all that are playing!!

If anyone cares, you CAN switch active horses between the 14th and 16th.

Come on gang! The current leader in the RTTR contest has 28 points after yesterday. We(most of us) only have 8 points

None of the Meet The Pros on the Roses site has more than the eight points

those people all went for the weekly prize. they'll be long gone in a couple of weeks, when the FG, GP races start. I'm in the 8 point group and happy to be there, as I look to score more points later on..... also tomorrow.

How did Chocolate Candy look, as far as future races?

How do the Candy Ride offspring do on the synth, grass and dirt?

Choc Candy won, but it was alot closer than what I though it would have been. I'll take a wait and see as to what he'll do on dirt, as all of his races in CA will be on some type of synthetic... and they all play different. Was hoping for a larger win, especially with Axel Foley nowhere to be found.

Tomorrow's two races should bring in many points if Old Fashioned does not falter(it is a contentious race)
I have Wall St. Wonder in the Vicente

Help me out here, y'all. I have 7 horses in my RTTR stable running in contest races Saturday.

I've got I Want Revenge and Atomic Rain in the Grade I Wood.

I've got three horses in the Grade I S.A. Derby: Pioneer of the Nile, The Pamplemousse and Chocolate Candy

Two horses in the Grade II Illinois Derby: Perfect Song and Free Country

And I've got Capt. Candyman Can in the Grade III Bay Shore

Despite getting less points for a G III win, I figure I have to include likely winner Capt. Candyman

Though I'm concerned about I Want Revenge duplicating his last effort, I have to take him(?). Probably toss Atomic Rain

The Ill. Derby is weak so I feel I should use untested Perfect Song and the disappointing Free Country.

But, I need to toss another besides Atomic Rain, so from the SA Derby I can't keep three horses(?) and will toss Chocolate Candy

Thoughts?

jwkniska 04-02-2009 11:36 AM

Good Luck Mike!

I've got 6 runners and will definitely put a bet on the one I don't activate at Trackside Sat. Based on past history, whichever one I don't activate, it wins.

Thunder Gulch 04-02-2009 02:25 PM

The approach depends on where you are. I think I have the same seven as you...no I have 8. Since the points thing isn't sensitive to odds, you have to take the most likely mindset, unless of course you need to make up a lot of ground and take a horse nobody else wants. Anyway, agree on Captn Candyman. POTN will get points. I'm taking Dead Oak- I mean Giant Oak because I need the points from Illinois. Chocolate Candy has a chance to get points and isn't on a lot of lists so the gamble is in him beating POTN or Pamplemousse which will make up grouind on the field....I have Atomic Rain from a bad choice early on, and I don 't think he has much of a shot...IWR figures to get points one way or another and second in that race is better than the win in the G3 races.

2nd in a G1 only gets you 7 points
winning a G3 gets you 8 points

PeteMugg 04-02-2009 03:44 PM

I'm sure a lot of us are going to have an extra horse or two. I'm tossing Free Country and hoping none of the others get scratched late.

You guys doing any good in this thing?

I have those as well as a few other running this weekend as well as some others! Good Luck!

Sitting at #42 overall....:D

jwkniska 04-02-2009 10:07 PM

I tossed Choc Candy from my six... so that's probably the best bet of the weekend.

Not doing anywhere near as good this year (about 1900th overall).

As predicted, throw one out and a different one scratches. The Pamplemousse is out. Too late to change.

That does blow! I did the opposite and left PON to run instead of Pamplemousse, they should let you make changes until like noon or something on race day, that rule could be changed in my opinion.

Mike 04-04-2009 01:01 PM

This points out on a weakness in the rules. I see no reason in this modern age that we can't at least see the scratches, which have all come out well before any of the Contest races

Mike 04-07-2009 11:21 AM

Remember to add your final horses before Saturday gets here

I'll need them, I only have one running this weekend.

Mike 04-07-2009 03:44 PM

I was able to pick up 2 horses, and I ignored the Bluegrass(despite its' G I status as opposed to Ark.'s GII and I already have JoJo), who I think will win), so I picked up Papa Clem(established on synth-why isn't he in the Bluegrass?) and Win Willy for the Arkansas Derby with and eye on their chances in the Big One also

I have Old Fashioned, but I have no confidence in him, and I think Win Willy might be a live long shot in the KD.
