Blast from the Arlington 2007 past....anyone know what she's been up to?

Lezcano

Does anyone know if Lezcano will head back to Tampa after this weekend? After riding in New Jersey/New York this Summer/Fall I am curious to see whether or not he goes back there.

He wasn't there last year. I assume he will ride at Gulfstream again this year.

Running in NYB stakes. Doing well, but a mile and a half is way beyond her scope

That was the first thing I thought -- she could barely stay a short two turns at Arlington.

Just interesting to see her show up there, but glad to see she's apparently been holding her own in NY.

She ran what I thought was a very impressive one-turn race at the spring Kee meet on the polytrack, but for some reason they haven't run her back on the synthetic subsequently. She broke really poorly in that race, went very wide, and still ran by the field impressively.
I agree with others, however, that this 3f stretchout doesn't figure to suit her.

been a few years since he has rode at Tampa full time, right? At least 2 years, but I am thinking more 3 years.

Pretty sure he won the riding title three years ago and Centeno has won the last two riding titles.

on a side note, went to Grand Slam I last year at Calder- great card- the day after my aunt's funeral in Miami, she used to take me there & GP & Hialeah as a kid. Hard to believe it's already been a year. :(

miraja2 12-12-2008 10:28 AM

I kind of like The Niagara Queen in the 8th at a price (12-1 ML). Her last race was poor but she had plenty of possible excuses. I think the switch to Pletcher, the stretchout to a distance she has won at in the past, and the favorable recent works make her a legitimate threat.

Calder Race Course (“Calder”) announced today that due to the continuing overpayment of purses at the current Tropical Meet, the racetrack is cancelling three stakes races from the schedule: the $100,000 Stage Door Betty Handicap (G3) and $100,000 Frances Genter Stakes (G3) on Dec. 27, and the $100,000 Tropical Park Derby (G3) on Jan. 1. The 2008/09 Tropical Meet ends on Jan. 2, 2009.

WOW. The Tropical Park Derby is gone?!?! I don't see any of these on your BC list, so I guess this is more fallout from the ADW situation?

I know a lot of you don't consider pedigrees as a useful study, but honestly! A Mr. Greeley going 12f?!? Don't care how fit she is - those short-twitch muscles are going to give it up before the finish.

Pretty condescending to consider one comment about a horse's workouts as a dismissal of pedigrees in my wagering strategy.

I was just making a comment as the entries came out because I had been watching workouts at Tampa. Nothing more, nothing less. IF I was recommending her as a wager, I would put that in the Selections Room of this Forum.

I don't have the word Pedigree in my handle, but that doesn't mean I don't consider pedigrees when I am placing a wager.
