Going 1-6 over the last 7 weeks, and 0-4 in division, means you don't deserve a mention.

The positive spin is that maybe Toronto wont want them either. They thought they were getting Buffalo (Ncaa version)

They gave a contract extension to a habitual loser.

Touche'- can't say I was happy about it, to be fair it would be tough for anyone to win with JP Losman at the controls but I don't see how they shouldn't be 8-5 at this point after a 5-1 start given the schedule.

docicu3 12-08-2008 12:10 PM

Pats still winning with a) a 6th string running back b) 190 lb receiver who catches a dozen balls when everyone in the game knows the ball is going to him c) each week seem to be behind double digits before they get up off the matt to avoid the stake in the heart loss that will eliminate them.

It is incredible that if they win out they are likely in the playoffs ( I know there are scenarios that could screw them however I don't think an NFL team has ever missed the playoffs with 11 wins) because Mia/Jets still play each other the last week.

They are not going to win the superbowl this year but somehow this team is overachieving more than any of the other SB winners.

Meh. I'm pissed off, but I'm not "weaping". They've been awful the last two weeks but they still control their destiny. Must-win game against Buffalo this Sunday. I also think the Phins and Pats each have one more loss in them. We might too, but we'll see.

Coach Pants 12-08-2008 12:36 PM

They blew their load on Tennessee.

At this point, they are just as likely to lose them all as win them all.

Two bad games, and this???

;)

The first bad game was easier to write off, and had they responded appropriately, I would have considered it just a hiccup. But yesterday was even WORSE (although admittedly I didn't watch it, just listened on Sirius).
Coles and Cotchery combine for 2 catches, 15 yards?? That is just absurd.

The defense? Did they play any?

This was against San Francisco for cripes sakes.

We'll see, but it don't look good.

i'm way less than thrilled with my skins as well. to run off that many wins, and then tank here lately--disgusting.
i think the jets can handle buffalo, who is looking horrible right now. but ny definitely needs a momentum shift.

Is it just me or does it seem like the jets just dont like going west? Lose at Oakland, SD and now San Fran.

No excuses for the way they played/coached yesterday. The only player who showed up (TJ) was given ten carries. What. The. Fukk.

I feel your pain (do I ever), but disagree. I'd say there's around a 45-50% chance of them winning out, but only like a 10-15% of them losing out IMO. The Bills and Seahawks don't worry me, and I don't think Miami's coming into the Meadowlands and winning if the division's on the line.

I'd actually prefer that to the Pats winning the division (again) though.

Dr. Watson 12-08-2008 06:50 PM

the winner of the jets/fins the final week will take the afc east at 11-5.

patriots have it easy the rest of the way. they are a td favorite against oakland this week. they will be favorites against arizona next week because az stinks coming across country to play in cold weather and finally they have the ice cold bills.

i think the pats go 11-5 and miss the playoffs. pretty good record for a qb who hasnt played since highschool, an undrafted rookie free agent rb starter who was 5th string at the start of the year, a big black fast wideout who got traded for a pack of gum, and little white welker who they got for a half stick of gum. plus their defense has like 6 startes injured and they are older than dirt and slower than molasses.

I've just seen this scenario play out too many times to be overly optimistic. Same Old Jets? Maybe not, but the last 2 weeks they have surely done a great impression.

Hell, the Bills and Seahawks don't worry me much either, but neither did the 49ers, or the Broncos who had just lost at home to the Raiders.

They MUST beat the Bills, or else they are finished. These last 2 losses haven't been flukes, they've played like shite.

declansharbor 12-08-2008 06:57 PM

The Bills would like nothing more than to ruin their division rival's seasons and have two shots to do so.

They can't play as bad as they've been the rest of the way, or can they??

If JP Losman is at QB then absolutely. If Edwards can't go this week I hope they throw Shiekh Hamdan in there and give him a shot over more Losman.

MISTERGEE 12-09-2008 10:11 AM

have you ever had a lemon hamdan? it is absolutely delicious!
