12/18 (FG): Star 2yo colt ALW/N1X
Just scanned entries and isn't there a couple of good horses in this race?? indygo mt. and fresian fires or am i mistaken. Sometimes the names of the horses run together for me. Guess im getting old.

More talent in that N1X than the DD jackpot. |
Interesting race for sure with the two AP Indy's right next to each other, but it's actually on Thurs 12/11.
|
Your right bogey sorry like i said things just kinda run together sometimes. Looks like an interesting race esp with indygo mt. in there looked good at CD we will see what happens.

Yikes the barns are getting loaded, thursday afternoon n1x allowance and this is what it draws. I may have to go in the predicted rain just to see this in person instead of on TV. Need to get the pp's the 10th looks interesting too. |
I saw Indygo Mountain win his last race here at CD and he was very impressive.
|
I'm going to side with Map of the World in this one. He lost all hope @ the break in his last and the collision in the stretch didnt help matters. Thinking the added real estate can do him some good as well. Indygo Mountain certainly looks tough in here and will take beaucoup bucks. Hoping that he locks up with Doc's Friend on the front end early and they run each other off their feet. Would love to get 5-1 on MOTW, at which time I might unload. May play on top/beneath of a few more late runners.

Looking to tri key Fresan Fire over Escalon and Indygo Mountain
|
Really like Map Of The World in here......and thats coming from a guy who never bets on Al Stall........$25 EX Map over Uno Mas, and a $10 EX reversed
|
Fair Grounds cancels...
we'll have to wait 'til another day for that good baby race...
|
I'm sure Doug O'Neill is just THRILLED he flew there yesterday afternoon to saddle Escalon...
This was a real disappointment as I doubt that field re-assembles as deep whenever the race comes back... |
why did they cancel, weather?
|
Snow
|
Almost the same field tries again on Thursday....hopefully we won't get snowed out again
That was just unbelievably wild, I had 9 inches OF SNOW here....:D 6th (2:50) 1 Mile | Open | 2 Year Olds Allowance | Purse: $44,000 1 Escalon Valenzuela P A O'Neill Doug 119 L 9-2 2 Code of Honour Martin E M Jr Bennett William D 122 L 15-1 3 Uno Mas Bridgmohan S X Asmussen Steven M 119 L 4-1 4 Indygo Mountain Theriot H J II Calhoun W. If all the betting goes to the two AP Indy's, I think Uno Mas might deserve a wager. His first race on the dirt was significantly better than his synthetic efforts, and although the 2f stretchout is a concern, Asmussen is one of the best sprint/route trainers around. Add in the fact that the colt's sire and dam-sire were BOTH two-turn graded stakes winners at age 2, and I don't think the 8f will be a significant problem for him.
Unlike the two favorites, he also has a race over the course, and in my opinion, his performance that day was almost as impressive as Indygo Mountain's race at CD. At 4/1+, I'll play him. |

I don't see any reason to like Friesan Fire here. Indygo Mountain certainly looks good and is the horse to beat but I'm going to try and beat him with Escalon and Uno Mas. Will play a tri with Indygo in all three spots and both of those two in all spots.
|
Well, Indygo Mountain was a late scratch. Code of Honour went out to the lead and held a slim advantage over 1/2 Friesan Fire through 23.15, 46.10 fractions. Around the turn, Friesan Fire went past that leader and seemed to have the race all his own if he was good enough. Uno Mas had tracked a couple back in third on the outside of Escalon and was also asked to move to keep up with Friesan Fire. By the top of the lane, it was clear that Uno Mas was going to win as they his 6f in 1:11.43. He collared that one with ease and won drawing off as much the best. Friesan Fire was a clear second while Escalon, who was really being asked to run going into the turn, finished third. Final time was 1:37.90.
In my opinion, none of these horses looked like anything that we'll hear much from as 3yo's, especially Friesan Fire. He looks like garbage to me. Hammersley wrote in the form that with his breeding, distance wouldn't be an issue but it's worth noting that the best he's looked was his maiden race and in each succeeding race, each at a longer distance than the one before, he's looked worse. |
