It's a really good race. The biggest reason, of course, is that they aren't running the DeFrancis Dash this year.

cakes44 11-24-2008 09:46 AM

Has someone else taken over duties for Idiot Proof?

Ah yes... good point.

3rd race Thursday is as good as the Fall Highweight, most years. The Churchill card is also excellent, might be skipping the turkey time this year :o

Jamie Theriot and Robbie Albarado should get a mount in that race.
They might be able weigh in at the scheduled weight.

Bobby Fischer 11-24-2008 09:25 PM

Is there a ml yet ? plz tL me 2 big underlays?

this may be the last chance to get a big juicy underlay on Fabulous Strike before they retire his beloved *$$.

If Songster gets big money as well, ... why I'll eat a turkey!

Travis Stone 11-24-2008 09:35 PM

Idiot Proof's non-synthetic record is pretty stellar.

Without lookings at the PPs, it seems like it sets up for a closer

What possible reason would they retire him for?

my psychic says he is on the downswing and decisions will have to be made next season. ~~Class Relief or Retire after the layoff and a light stakes or two.~~

I'm hoping he takes a lot of dumb money on thanksgiving, but the markets and economy have been stingy lately. The highweight isn't exactly a huge draw of extra fan money. If he is as low as 3 or 4-1 you get a fat underlay but not the 2-1 you really want to see. You kind of have to call Songster a punk and hope he isn't right for this as well. I was hoping the ml would set Strike real low - haven't seen it yet.

My understanding is that they might get one more race for him and then stand him along side his sire at Lane's End.

I told my friend Teddy that Fabulous Strike might be retiring soon and a great chess player fan thinks he will. He offered to sell me lifelong breeding rights to fabulous strike for just $20!! Holy Guakamole what a deal!!! :$: :$: where can I find a nice cheap broodmare or two to breed to him?

Bobby Fischer 11-25-2008 02:02 PM

wait a second ... Fabulous Strike is a gelding ??

;)

^^ :D LOL

no such observation here, he just has been on the list of overrated speedballs for a while now. He is a fan favorite so you have to look to races where he is vulnerable. If everything goes his own way sure he can look great... He actually was grade I or II, a year or two ago.

Months=Years?

Check out a little known race called the Vosburgh from this year.

Not that it's any real surprise.....but this is a terrible opinion.

Somehow I can't help but think the legends race was misplaced, the one Hawley won a month ago. This would have been a perfect race where Stevens, Bailey, Cordero ect...could have all made the weight.

What did I miss from the 2008 Vosburgh??

Strike reverted back to the 5 1/2-furlong-horse-fetal-position he is prone to , the race was a muddy mess, scrubs like black seventeen kodiak kowboy and first defence... the race looked like about a grade 3 event. nice early speed, but not a real grade I 6furlong race.

There were times in 07 and maybe 06 when Strike looked like he had a shot to put it all together. I think he punks out on turkey day.

I could come on here and talk about when Commentator was in a vulnerable spot and the responses would be from the same mold...

the vulture list is separate from the favorite horsey list :p

have to see the odds.

If enough money is on Strike and Songster, you wouldn't need an opinion. If they are 9/2 you have to pass unless Idiot Proof is a big underlay. EDIT OVERLAY
