The Ballad of Pval?

Where's that thread anyway? Thought this was worth some attention away from the Big Contest for atleast a few seconds...2 days two stks winners at the Fairgrounds for Mott. Yes I know Pat's had more chances than one person probably deserves, but it's always nice to see him zigging and zagging all over the track again. No, that wasn't sacasm.

2Hot4TV 11-15-2008 07:27 PM

Pat can still ride.

I think this is the thread you are talking about and as for the zig and 'da zag....
If I hadn't taken a shot with Snug I might have enjoyed the weeble wobbling to victory.....now if he can just handle a little success without self destructing we can all enjoy what could be a run at the jock title if he gets the quality of horses he got this weekend.

He's fun to watch, his stats at the LAD meet were only average which surprised me considering he has ridden in the toughest jockey colony's there are, maybe he wasn't getting the live horses but this looks like the old P Val. I'd take him early in the meet because I can imagine he's going to be bet down on whatever horse he's on soon.

Okay the 2 seconds is up!

Nice to se him doing well.

Everyone deserves multiple last chances.

Pedigree Ann 11-16-2008 10:48 AM

The Cal authorities tried to micromanage his off-track life; he was never in trouble for anything he did while riding (except your normal day-to-day aggressive jockey stuff). It was his downtime, injury or suspension, when he wasn't getting his rush from riding, when the demons came out. If he can keep healthy and on the right side of the stewards in LA, he could be all right.

his off track life affected his on track doings. you really think he was only high on life when riding?

As far as the multiple thing, well... lets leave that alone. :D

Continued good luck to Patrick.

VALENZUELA MISSES CARD: Jockey Patrick Valenzuela was replaced on all six of his scheduled mounts Thursday. The stewards said Valenzuela called and said he was ill. They said he won't be allowed to ride again at the meet until he brings them written clearance from a doctor.

cowgirlintexas 11-30-2008 10:19 AM

Good grief:zz:

He seemed to be on the road to recovery and seemed to have a grip..

Hopefully he really was just sick...Hard to ever believe him though.

Chalky 11-30-2008 10:21 AM

Here we go again, PVal.......

CSC 11-30-2008 10:51 AM

Hey Pat!

A bit of advice to help you with your life.

You need to make up your mind and decide if you are a Drug addict or not.

Once you make your choice it lets you be the best at it that you can.

Hope you make the right chioce.

I had a post in here somewhere that was an exchange with Kev that predicted this would happen sooner than later but can't find it now. Another new and interesting way to Red Board this time on a jockey's recovery ....will wonders never cease...

No it's not.....You should know by now that I would never take a heartless shot at a suffering addict. I have all the empathy in the world for those suffering who can't or won't get help. The disease is merciless, killing daily and afflicting millions......everybody has a story about a family member or friend who has has ruined their life or the relationships in a family because of the disease.

Don't worry no offense taken......Mothers who contribute to the board regularly also get a pass from any criticism. It's called the Byk Bill of Maternal Rights. Coauthored by Senator Danzig I believe.

Actually he didn't..... it was Cisco Torres, PVAl is still off all mounts and not listed for Thurs or Friday. I hope he really is sick...everyones sick down here...but I tend to doubt it as no mounts on the 4th or 5th.

Anyway your boy RR looked good in the paddock, I think I got a couple of pics but they really didn't walk him around much. Someone needs to whisper to him that it is a lonnngggggg stretch at the FG.....he really looked like he stopped at the 16th pole and there was more to go. Best of luck to him next time out....:)

Chalky 11-30-2008 03:21 PM

It is sad that whenever he seems to start doing well, he sabotages himself....and it has ALWAYS started with him "calling in sick", "or ovesleeping due to cold medication", and it is usually after beginning to succeed and have a number of live mounts. He really can ride when he is clean.

I just wonder if someday we will be readling about a tragic overdose from one of racing's real wasted talents....I hope we can remember his great rides on Sunday Silence and his duels with Pat Day and Easy Goer, but I'm afraid Pat is choosing a different legacy for himself.

Well he was/is sick. Racing today, took off his first mount but then ran in the 5th DH for place/show in the 8th.... riding in the 9th and 10th. Still don't see him listed for Thurs or Friday, but this respiratory flu thing going around down here is awful, maybe he just took off those days. Glad to see that the speculation wasn't right and he really does have the flu like everyone else, not that the speculation isn't warranted, but he lives on to fight yet another day.

3rd in the 9th

i dis agree..he knows the deal and still chooses to partake.. he could have the world by the balls but would rather suck that glass %ick.. with his talent and his money he could go to any high end recovery yet he does not..sick is one thing..stupid is another.
