oracle wonder lady/ holly time

my horse holly time is due to run on the 6th. unfortunately i wont be able to make it up to the spa. I spoke to mike iavarone and he said the horse is training very well. he also said wlal came out of the oaks and has lost a good deal of weight and has been coughing. he said he is going up on wed and will know more than. he said he spoke to rd yesterday and they have been just ponying her but are still expecting to make the alabama. he said they have prado lined up and that bushfire will not run in the alabama. if she wins she could be 3yo filly champion.

Good luck. I might be there sunday.

How is Kip Deville doing? Is he going to Arlington. It looks like 4 euros are coming over to take on Showing Up.

mp3 08-01-2006 03:25 PM

kip deville is being pointed for the 500k kent breeders cup.

Good spot for him. 9F is probably his limit, but he clearly is more of a BC Mile, than BC Turf, although the BC may be a little over his head at age 3.

I would imagine KD and Brilliant will battle it out in that Delaware Park race.

mp3 08-01-2006 03:31 PM

should be a good spot for him, i like the spacing much better than the va races

Well shes dead fit off that race and Ricky doesn't train them hard anyway, especially off a race like that. I can tell you this, he will NOT run a horse in a stakes race that he feels is not ready to fire their best shot, he will scratch them instead. Not much expected in the Bama. Looks like wlal and Shugs horse again. I doubt that teammate or sugar shake will try it after their last races. Perhaps a Test runner or two or three may try the Alabama if they see a small weak field. Hard to come back that quick though since they moved the Test to the 2nd weekend. Makes it only two weeks rest to the Bama and thats hard to do. Just have to wait and see.

3yofilly of the year if she wins the bama?

Gander 08-01-2006 03:41 PM

Any chance we'd see Wait a While, or has she found her home on the turf?

Seems like a huge pot though and wouldnt be stupid if Pletcher took a shot with her. Shes beaten some of these before.

That would be very tough to say. Lady of venice coudl still rebound and win more big races and Wait A While's only race on grass this year was great. Should she go on and wina bundle on grass she also could get the award. Today's voters are somewhat savvier than they used to be and figures that they run go into the voting process. WLAL and Bush do not run monster figures(although WLAL rana 98 Beyer last out) and I think that one of the grass mares could get the award before its all said and done.

i hear she is running in a 400k g1 turfer in cali. pletcher will likely run adieu

only in the mud Tim, on a dry track she hasnt. I think shes turf bound anyway. As great as her last race was, I doubt that they would tinker with it. He may enter her though if it looks like rain, shes exceptional in the mud.

She looks like a much better turf horse. You would think WLA will have to beat Bushfire in the Gazelle to win the division. WLA sort of got screwed in the Acorn, but Bushfire has 3 grade 1's already.

I think Adieu might run this weekend in the test. I still like Jones filly there.

I'm not real sure about that. A CCA/Alabama double is as good as an Ashland/Acorn/Goose trifecta in my opinion. But if Bushfire won the gazelle it would be as good as over. End of the year performances definitely count more with voters than early year performances do.

how many horses have won the cca oaks and alabama?

I think Moms Command and Sky Beauty did. I will look it up. Its quite a daily double!

mp3 08-01-2006 03:50 PM

if that is it and with the rich history of both of those races it would require bushfire to win a classic at a classic distance to take it from here. I dont believe the turf fillies will recieve nearly the consideration as the dirt fillies. alsi did ieah buy that gulch horse or was it someone else?

No knock on WLA, but she still has to beat that Shug horse and a few others. Bushfire got a big break with the WLA scratch but WLA is going to also have to beat Bushfire in the Gazelle. It is possible, considering 9F might not be Bushfires favorite distance. Pine Island is also in the picture with a Alabama win.

First of all she has already beaten the Shug horse. 2nd of all she would never run in both races. Its too close and too much. Bushfire is ducking the classic distance races because she cant go that far, thats why they chose the Gazelle. Noone in their right mind passes the Alabama to run in the Gazelle if they think they can win the Alabama. On a broodmare's resume, winning the Alabama has like 5 times the kick of winning the Gazelle.

I think you are right, but the Eclipse is what they are after. You put 4 grade 1's up it doesn't matter what anyone does. It is a smart move by the Bushfire people because she obviously likes Belmont. WLA would have to win the BC race to take it from her. You would think they might meet in the Beldame but I don't see either beating the older mares. I still think Shugs horse might turn out to be the best of the three, but if WLA could win the two Grade 1's at the distance she will probably be a more valuable horse. Just make sure the rain holds off.

mp3 08-01-2006 04:06 PM

she just won the oaks in the slop. dont think the track matters.

That may be true but what if she doesnt win the Gazelle? The Test horses will be back in the Gazelle(due to the new spacing it makes sense to go there) and there will be plenty of pace pressure going a one turn mile and an eighth. Then shes a horse who ducked the classic distance races with prestige and still lost. I think thats highly likely. I think its still wide open to be honest. The grass horses could play a part in it and what if a horse like Adieu or someone else won the test and Gazelle and Wlal loses the bama and Bush loses the gazelle? I think its more wide open than you do. Still 3 grade ones to be run in the next 6 weeks in that class and then the races against older mares.
