Surely I'm not the only one happy to see Hellmuth's record of youngest champ ever finally fall?? :)

Don't sweat it Kev, I will just watch Dancing with Stars instead. Maybe I will flip over to the Knicks game and make sure Starbury is still on the bench too. :D

Phil would have had a great career as a bad guy wrestler in the ill fated WWF. Few personalities in Poker are more full of himself than this guy. I don't understand why this give this dweeb so much air time when he bitches about people making the wrong play when they beat him.....it sure isn't the guys looks.

Because he is great TV, love him or hate him (most hate him). He is a funny funny individual. He had one of the best lines I have every heard. It was something like, "I guess if it wasn't for luck, I would never lose a hand". I love watching him and the way he gets when he gets beat. I like him and I like Mike the mouth. I think they are both great card players and very funny people. I could watch those two all the time.

GPK 11-11-2008 12:34 PM

I'm starting a fundraiser now to gather the :$: :$: to send me to the WSOP in 2 years:D

I watch The Biggest Loser. It's the funniest show on television.

I used to loathe Mike the Mouth a few years ago. Then for some reason, I just took a liking to the guy. It could be that he blew all of his WSOP money on drugs (major coke jaw) that one year, hit rock bottom, then proceeded to climb back to the top of his game. His table image is great now, IMO, and his skill is top notch as well. (He was just the chip leader at Foxwood's WPT event, will have to check it out and see how he fared. He also finished #29 in this years Main Event, I believe.) He hangs around in almost every tournament he enters. The guy can flat out play. No if's, and's or but's about it.

As for Hellmuth, he is great for the 'sport'. Plays the role of the villain to a tee, has everyone at his table either gunning for him, or running from him. (Which can backfire some times) And Doc, he may play the role of the "brat" or "dweeb" (which is mostly an act), but his record clearly speaks for itself. Second to none when it comes to accomplishments in the poker world, and only he can say that.

I know I one hand Demidov reraised Phillips pre flop and Phillips called. After the flop, Phillips bet like 4.5 million and Demidov reraised all in and Phillips folded.

Schwartz also took around 3 million from Phillips with a post flop re raise in another hand.

philcski 11-11-2008 10:22 PM

Coverage from Sunday, excellent. Coverage from last nights final two, terrible. They played for a LONG time and all they showed was 2 hands?!?!?

Remind me the next time I see that dweeb Montgomery in the poker room to push him over his chipstack. There's some things you don't do and giving a play-by-play when you're all in (especially in the world's biggest tournament.)

I was rooting for Demidov. He's got some game... the Dane played very smart though. Sat back early and waited, then when the deck started hitting him he fired and fired.

Was up there last night into today. He finished 6th

Damn. I was rooting for him to get it done. He'll probably get to another final table in his next attempt. Guy has a knack for knowing where he stands in each and every hand he enters. Uncanny would do it no justice when trying to describe it.

i hate hellmuth because he's the inspiration for table coaches worldwide.

they're are guys playing bottom level that love to drive easy money elsewhere.

There's nothing like sitting next to someone who thinks making a guy that just wants to have a good time and doesn't mind losing money doing it feel stupid. that's such a fantastic poker strategy.

what part of bad player's being profitable are you phil, jr's missing?

you don't want to tell someone that calling a pot bet on a flush draw is stupid. you want to make them feel great about it.

unless your ego is more important than your wallet.

one of those guys made an amazing fold with the king high flush... other guy had ace of hearts. Cant believe he folded those cards but good for him!

Lori, I think that was that Schwartz guy that used to play chess. I think it was Demidov that had the nut flush. I thought that was amazing lay down. To know that there is only one card in the deck that can beat you, and still have the discipline and courage to lay down that kind of hand...:zz:

There is probably 1 in a 1,000 chance I lay that hand down, it was an amazing lay down

I doubt most of the guys sitting at that table last night would have layed down that hand... cant imagine. Gotta give the man props - or else he had access to a tv and saw the other guys ace! ;) (just kidding of course)

Yeah, that guy was annoying as hell. Was hoping he'd get taken out early, but it was pretty funny when he finally did go down. I think there was only one card (6h, I believe) that could've beaten him on the river ... and it came up. Hilarious watching the dork sitting there after the bad beat.

Scav 11-12-2008 09:49 AM

I will say this, the two bad beats that were shown on the yesterday's show would have sent me over the edge, that 6h's one, that table would have been tossed.....All you gotta do is fade one card and bam, there it is....

He took it surpsingly well, IMO. Except for the A-Q over Hooks rant. He wound up on the losing end of the race. It happens.
