A) The Republicans are going to need to find a new sales pitch besides "cut taxes." B) Lots of Americans are wildly optimistic about how much money they are going to make in 2009. |

Uh...yeah..interesting! I can't see raising taxes, they'd find a way to blow that money too. |
adds up to 102%

Obama's % of white vote was most by Democrat since Carter (tied Clinton's % in reelection)...that is the one figure that really gives me hope. I think the Republicans need to start distancing themselves from the religious right, as several Rep spokespersons have observed, they are becoming the party of the white southern male...they are even in trouble in the midwest. In 2050 when minority groups outnumber whites, they will be in danger of becoming irrelevant. It will be an interesting next 8 years!

I would not doubt if Putin tries something similar on Obama. Russia is in some fin. trouble. I think they try a little test early. Redirect their internal difficulties. Little experimental prick to see how we (US under Obama) react. |

well, at least i don't think obama will come up with some bs about looking into putins eyes and seeing a good soul. bush sounded like a pollyannic moron when he said that way back when. |

Obama won in San Antonio (Bexar County), Dallas, and Houston. In Austin (Travis County)67% to 32%... The state went to McCain of course. And the Houston and Dallas votes did not count the burbs outside the city proper. The San Antonio vote was actually the county vote 54 to 45 Obama. Carried a lot more of the Hispanic vote than I dreamed possible. Austin does not surprise me. Younger prosperous city. If you look at the California vote by county, McCain won by square footage in California. So the rural vote was McCain. |

I believe people of color are more religious and more conservative than their zombie like voting suggests. But I don't live in a big city. |
