Ted Stevens
I cant wait to see if Alaska puts
this guy back in the Senate. I would like to know how Scuds would classify this state if Stevens wins. Cant be he-haw... ex confederate trash... Tuesday should be the most interesting set of elections in my lifetime. Al Franken running in Minnesota? Against a wrestler. What a country... |

which doesn't mean much. after all, bears and prairie dogs don't get to vote.

it's all just makes my hair hurt. |
i thought i read that stevens opponent was doing well in the polls. i can't believe folks would be dumb enough to vote the guy back in tho, he won't be staying as the senate will be having an ethics hearing, and he'll be booted out.
of course, that would be better for the rep party there if he did win re-election, as their gov would name someone to fill out the term after stevens got expelled. |

some debate over whether she can make an interim appointment to fill the vacancy. the people that backed an initiative changing the way federal vacancies were handled in alaska say no, so the state would have only 1 senator until the special election. any appointment she made would be challenged in hours. but regardless, if begich can't beat a convicted felon, he won't beat palin in a special election. and she'd have to run. trading alaska governor for alaska senator is a no brainer. |

But then she'd be a Warshington' insider Unless she puts her chair outside in the hall during all the Senate sessions |

well, i like that idea better of having a special election. alaskans can just save themselves the time, trouble and expense by voting for the opponent. but we shall see. |

Like DC voting Marion Berry back in. |

as for voters...we're all against pork, til one of our own brings it home-they'll probably vote stevens back in because of his ability to get tons of unnecessary funding. it just ticks me off when i start thinking about how much of OUR money gets blown for stupid stuff. |

it's not that "big" a state despite geography. there's less than 700,000 people there and half of them live within spitting distance of anchorage. he's done a lot for the state unlike barry and the d of c. people know him personally on a level those of us living in larger states can't imagine. i think it's more a family thing that we on the outside can't quite understand. |

He just shoved folks around and basically flaunted his position. Told everyone around him he was untouchable. |

i was just trying on the shoes of those who would in response to the "is it begich or the voters?" question you posed. |

They seem like indepedent type voters that would not take to the flaunting of power. But I guess if they think this is our type in a strange place (DC) and he wont let us get kicked around... I guess I can see that. |
