Big Day -Any Big Scores? Good Stories?

I love to read about people who cash big any time but especially on big weekends like this. I'll start -

I took a rear end kicking like no other yesterday - no shiziat.

Today - hit a little here and there then BAM, I not only broke even but got a little to the good with my exacta box in The Classic.

Gauchos0522 10-25-2008 07:26 PM

Eagle Mountain wins i get 50 to win, $2 of the exacta and a buck of the tri...that one made the day really fun...

Pedigree Ann 10-25-2008 07:28 PM

I was with a group that was betting pick 3s and pick 4s with our pooled cash. Hit a nice pick 3 yesterday with Maram in it to beef up our stash for today. And blew every bet. We SHOULD have had the Juvieturf/sprint/turf one, but somehow Donativum didn't get on the ticket. Number mistyped? Misunderstanding between the group and the bettor? (We were online with Kev, who was texting to Ken at his OTB.) C'est la guerre.

declansharbor 10-25-2008 07:44 PM

Over the course of the two days I did pretty well. Today, other than the Juvy and Sprint tri's that we had 5 times over, it was a horrid day of betting. Would have had the Mile super for 2 bucks had Daytona not hit that brick wall entering the stretch and held on for a peice. Couldnt seem to string any multi race bets together, but it was a fun day nonetheless.

No good stories other than me throwing up attempting to smoke a cigar. I tried to blow out the smoke and inhale it up my nose. Didnt work too well, but made for a very, very funny scene. Not bad for a non-smoker though.

AeWingnut 10-25-2008 07:47 PM

I managed to keep my losses to a minimum. Flat bets were the only thing that worked for me.

I feel like I had a big oppurtunity and managed to mess it up totally

again

Cannon Shell 10-25-2008 07:47 PM

I hit the turf sprint with a win bet, blew a couple of bucks on a flyer (surf cat) in the "dirt" mile and decided not to go against my taurus horoscope anymore and walked out of Keeneland with more money than I went in with.

did hang a bit with NC tony who is a good dude and sharp handicapper

I figured 30-1 was enough for me.

We couldnt hit them to save our lives...My brother wanted to unload on Midshipman, but I talked him out of it at that price. This always seems to happen to him. He has this grizzly look out of the corner of his eye that he should patent.

3kings 10-25-2008 07:56 PM

Broke about even....Hit the exacta in the dirt mile and the Pick 3 starting with that race. On Friday was bailed out by Zenyatta hitting the tri and super on that race for a few bucks.

cal828 10-25-2008 08:25 PM

Did not expect to get to go and did not make it out today until the 4th race. Didn't handicap much. Played the 5th through the 9th races. Hit straight bets and exactas in all except the 8th race. No terrific scores, but made a few hundred. I'm happy. Life is good. Glad I didn't have time to handicap much, I probably would have dropped a few hundred!!

Hickory Hill Hoff 10-25-2008 08:34 PM

Had a very good day.....
Cashed in 7 out of 9 races

Muhannak
covered Desert Code & Storm Treasure underneath
Rebellion (place)
exacta in the Turf Mile....Goldikova is a monster!
Midshipman with the exacta
Dancing Forever (covered across the board)
and for those who liked the "Euros" .....
the exacta box in the Classic.

Best Breeder's Cup day ever for me, thanks to all who helped! :)

Summer Colony a pole! 10-25-2008 08:40 PM

The Breeders Cup Classic was a Sham...

It was embassing watching CURLIN lose to a European Bum (Raven's Pass wouldn't win a grade II in this country on the dirt)... The synthetics are AWFUL............!

herkhorse 10-25-2008 08:52 PM

Caught the 5261.00 pic three in the first 3 races. Was so shocked, I never made another bet other than Richwood Silver at Keeneland.(took them a long way on the lead at 55-1) Best Breeders Cup ever for me by far.

OSA #1 $1 Pick-3 3,4,5,6,9,WT,8,9,13,14,WT,2,7,8,12 $ 80.00 $ 3,946.10 + $ 3866.10

A good friend hit the pic 4 ending with the classic for 2700.00

We were the only two people left in the Herkimer branch by the time the classic rolled around. Seemed like a very quiet day for a Breeders Cup.

The Bid 10-25-2008 08:52 PM

I caught a 200 dollar double to ravens pass and a 5 dollar tri in the same race putting him on top of 6 horses and tossing the best horse in the world. Sad really. Up around 30 on the day

Danzig 10-25-2008 08:55 PM

my best story is seeing cannon being referred to as homie.

Seattleallstar 10-25-2008 08:59 PM

I got 5 out of 6 on the pk 6, I singled Soldier of Fortune..blahh. Won the supers on the juvenille and sprint races. Other than that I still lost for the weekend after getting killed on Friday but manageable enough. Can't complain I had a blast today.

Riot 10-25-2008 09:08 PM

How 'come so many people cashed on this terrible crappy fake turf-like surface that gives chaotic, unpredictable results, has ruined the sport, and put up fake champion after fake champion? :D

Richwood Silver - next time, she got a good race into her and was pretty exciting until the last eight. Had a good fun day at Keeneland's closing day and finally got to meet NC Tony in person. Cashed about $450 on the Classic.

I thought this year's BC overall was a good, exciting one - a good day of horse racing!

TheSpyder 10-25-2008 09:18 PM

Had Minight Like/Conduit/All pick three and was a thrill to watch the Classis knowing I'd win no matter who won. Payoffs were $95 Curlin and as high as $3900 for the outsiders. Caught Ravons Pass for $495.

I hit three pick threes yesterday....(My god, I sould like BBB)

My best BC ever.

Spyder

turf fan 10-25-2008 09:21 PM

Keyed David Hoffman's turf sprinter in pick 3s and 4s. Got lucky to hit both a few times. Best $32 ticket I have ever constructed for a $6000 payoff.

we're all still going to turn in, watch, and wager regardless of what they run it on. doesn't mean we have to like the surface itself.

hell, i had a great two days at arl, but i'm still looking forward very much to oaklawn in jan.

GPK 10-25-2008 10:01 PM

I was up $300 hundred yesterday thanks to a couple pick 3's around Maram. A friend and I threw $100 each into the early pick4 today...and busted out first leg:zz: Didn't get a whole lot better after that. Ended up giving all $300 back plus another $160 on top of that. I bet $20WP on Into Mischief (Thanks Honu:{>: :{>: )as I was leaving and got a text message later telling me he won. So getting back $130 and that will put me down $30 over the 2 days.
If Eagle Mountain gets up, I win a bundle. Had a couple pick 3's and a few nice Doubles to him as well

ddthetide 10-25-2008 10:31 PM

i took a pretty good beating yesterday but broke even for today. :tro:

That all/Zenyatta/all (as bad a bet as it was) paid a tad more than 5 cents.

NoLuvForPletch 10-26-2008 06:49 AM

actually had a very good day on BC day for once. Hit the triple in the Turf and was on fire late but unfortunately sat on my late Pick 4 (8-11). Had Raven's Pass, but didn't bet him to win as he was included on my Pick 4 ticket, and didn't have the exacta. Then nailed the 10th, but didn't bet the race as I had 1.6,12 in my Pick 4, they ran 6-1. Alive to the 6 and 8 in the 11th and miss by a neck for 2300...still up so I'm somewhat happy, but it could've been a very good day.

TheSpyder 10-26-2008 06:59 AM

Taxi's?..It's all Limo's baby in LA...limos!

And the middle of LA, not so nice....you talk'n Compton?

I had the Stardom Bound-Dream Empress exacta for $10 on Friday and win bets on Donativum and Conduit on Saturday to save me. Once it was said and done, I was up $14 for the 2 days.

jms62 10-26-2008 09:00 AM

I had my best Cup day by far.. SPent many hours Wed thru Friday handicapping and about 5 hours on Sat planning my bets.
I focused on the P3's and went pretty deep on multiple tickets. Hit quite a few and some winners were losers ;) Was in position to
cash 4 pick 4's and 2 pick 3's in the classic but Raven's Pass cleared away those chips. Highlights

R1) 1,5,9 Ex Box 665.00
R1) 4,5,6,7/6,8,9,11,13,14/1,7,8,9 P3 > 5261.50
R2) 6,8,9,11,13,4/3,6,7,8,9,10/2,4,6 > 1181.9

2nd year in a row I used Midnight Lute as a single in Pick 3's :) Also caught a $5 win bet flyer on Desert Code.

congrats.
but how did you have desert code?? i went back and looked at the pps after the race, and still didn't see anything. i think they said his was the second biggest bc payoff behind arcangues-i don't think anyone will ever top that payoff.

i told my husband (we're about to have to plan vacations for next year, he has to turn in his dates by nov 1) that i wanted to go to the bc next year....he said whatever. but i doubt we do it. maybe i'll just make the trip to hot springs or go down to la to make bets.

Thats what cell phones are for.

I came real close, but no cigar. I thought Santa Anita was a good venue for the cup this year.

Think about a new travel agent for next year.

Same for me with Desert Code except for the fact that he had been going a route of ground which helped at the end with the speed being out of gas. I had the exacta pounded with 6/8 and die when Mig split horses to beat me.

I was looking for a similar type horse but landed on Storm Treasure. Got my show money, at least. My first pick was Diabolical. A typical exacta for me - finished second and third.

I bet Desert Code because he had a very good record on the course and had a jock familiar with the downhill run. If he was 10-1 i probably wouldnt have bet him but at 30-1 (his odds when I bet) he was a good play. It is a tricky course for horses and riders and Mig made a huge move by saving ground crossing over the main and angling out. That wasnt exactly the trip I envisioned for the horse but it did work.

That race screamed CLOSER and Storm Treasure was the one. I try to find the turf miler and just couldn't see Desert Code as that horse. Stupid me.
