Here's to the Professional Racehorse

The professional Racehorse is not pansy pony. He often gets no attention in the media. He may be trained by someone that even many racing media have never heard of or met. He may not be a stakes winner, or if he is, it was ages ago. He runs in front bandages. He runs when it rains or snows, he runs at lots of different tracks. He has had 10 different trainers.
How about a thread dedicated to the Professional Racehorse, a "real horse" Hall of Fame.

My first nominee: Wild Geese who yesterday won for the 6th time in 11 starts this year. He was reclaimed at MON last time out, by Contessa/Winning Move.

Also include Golden Hare and an old NY favorite, now retired Arromanches.

I like Optimistic Steve . And Ferocious Won comes to mind .
Online Intime just had his 125th start . Jason's Miracle broke the 100 start barrier. Un Ochio is right at 100 starts .

Anyone remember Teddy Drone?

One of my favorites is on the track right now at KEE, Stratostar. He's 6 for 10 this year at age 8.

Yes. He was a fun one to watch.

I saw him run at Hialeah way back when ('90 or '91).

I wondered whatever became of him, hopefully he got a nice retirement gig. He always tried and for a mid level claimer was very respectable.

He won several stakes. Now I'm going to have to look him up...

Very nice career.

Thanks, I didn't want to diminish his stellar career. My time remembering him was when he was racing at GP in the 35K - 50K claiming area, very nice career indeed.

KORBYN GOLD..... 45 starts (15-10-5) $ 465,523 earned. (as of 3-17-08)

Well known for his profuse bleeding problems, but when he is on his game it would take something very special to beat him.
Im not one to gush or praise a performance quickly but, his win at TWP on St. Paddys day this year was breathtaking!!
108 Beyer with a negative three (-3) on Thoro-graph. All new tops in career start #45.
No telling what he couldve done had he not spent his prime years in Joe Woodards' barn.

KG has RUN at 17 different tracks: Lone star, ARL, Sunland, CH Downs, KEE, Mountaineer, Ellis, Presque Isle, Aqueduct (main & inner), Belmont, Sam H, Delaware, Fair Grounds, Hoosier, Beulah, Hawthorne and Turfway park.

KG has WON at 11 different tracks: Lone Star (2), Arl, Sunland, CHD (3), AQ, Hoosier, Beulah, Hawthorne, MNR, Presque Isle, and Turfway (2).

I wish I could post his lifetime PP's and a link to the TWP stake win on 3-17.
DRF wont let u cut and paste the PP's that are purchased.
If You have a RaceReplays.Com acct, do your self a favor and watch Korbyn Gold race on March 17th.

The Bid 10-10-2008 05:32 PM

Be a millionaire if he didnt spend his 2 best years with Woodard
