Torrential rain in NY. It is NYRA's fault:zz:

Linny 09-26-2008 09:47 AM

No blame here. It's raining upstate and NYC is expected to get far worse weather than Albany. It's a perfectly sound decision in light of the card scheduled for Sat. I'm planning on driving down to Belmont tomorrow, I just hope they race...

Honestly, NYRA has not been able to catch a break from the weatherman all season. Almost all the rain (outside the monsoon that was the 1st three weeks at SAR) has fallen on weekends this year.

ALostTexan 09-26-2008 10:44 AM

Man I hope they can get things together for tomorrow. I would really hate to see the fields scratch down. Such potential tomorrow. Good luck to the boys at NYRA to get things together for a great day of racing...

Hey Hoff, I have the "junkyard" twin to your dog.

Stall Mucker 09-26-2008 06:17 PM

As much as I want to see Curlin win on Sat. I have 2 thoughts.

1-He scratches. No more said.

2- If Curlin does not scratch...do you think if Wanderin Boy can get the lead can WB win???

1- he's NOT Big Brown :D

2- maybe a few year's ago.....Mambo is the only one with a chance, but do include Ravel :$:

What exactly do you like about Ravel?

It's interesting that he's in this spot, whether it's to fill out the field or otherwise....he'll be a price to use undereneath.

It's not interesting....it's actually obvious.

He has pretty much no value. Coolmore is in the breeding business. There is really no race he can run in, other than this one, save the BC Classic, that will make him a stallion. They are throwing sh it against the wall....no big deal....it happens all the time ( by owners and handicappers alike ). However, that is why he is in this race....not because of some clever behind the scenes voodoo.

Unless, of course, you felt his tremendous comeback at Saratoga sets him up well here.

I guess then, he fills out the field. But, he should be a price.....right?

There are priced horses with no shot throughout the card as well.

Wasn't really looking for him in the "win" spot, but he'll be better to use underneath than Wanderin Boy in the exotics for a "price".

Coach Pants 09-26-2008 07:20 PM

Hey Andy...

How is Wanderin Boy doing? Do you think he can have an easy lead?

Unless Merchant Marine goes into an all out send then he looks loose as can be.

I saw him Tuesday. To my useless eye he looked good.

No he won't be.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me what you like about him. The fact that he's a longshot is meaningless.

Thanks Andy.

I like his chances tomorrow. Hopefully Timber Reserve will take some money and keep the odds honest on Wanderin Boy.

Bred for an off-track, wide trip in a field of six last out? I don't know Andy....just thought he would be a better price than Wanderin Boy that's all.

I'm not sure Timber Reserve will run if the track is really bad....though we haven't got as much rain today as expected.....yet.

I actually think Timber Reserve is OK but I can see the other side. Wanderin Boy is probably the likeliest upsetter.

He was awful last time.

He should be five times the price of Wanderin Boy....at least. Considering his chances, as compared to Wanderin Boy, I doubt he will be a " better " price. You are seriously mistaking odds for value.

So, what would be "fair value" with a Curlin / Ravel exacta and would it be bigger than a Curlin / Wanderin Boy exacta?

I think he's OK as well but expect him to be a bit underlaid tomorrow if he goes.
I'm going to include him underneath. I'm also thinking about including Stones River in a few tri's in the third slot. Do you think he has any shot of sucking up for third?

Honestly....no. He looks terrible to me. Isn't he the horse that tested positive at Delaware?

Which question were you asking....the above or which result was more likely?

I hope you at least know the answer to the latter question.

Yes he's the one.

I'm just trying to exclude Mambo in Seattle from my tickets. A silly move but one that I'm gaining confidence in with the endorsement of pg1985 in hooves' thread.

I think he's the major underlay of the race. Not impossible but pretty unlikely. Mambo, that is.

Really has done little more than drizzle today. Not sure what tomorrow's going to be like, but if it's like today, both the main and the turf will be fine (i.e. moisture but no bog).
