For those supporting Obama....just curious do you really believe that he is the real deal or is it that you see him as the lesser moron/evil???

It's a replay of the 2004 election, which the creators of South Park summed up perfectly, it's a choice between a Turd Sandwich and a Big Douche. I don't really think it's that bad, but neither choice is very inspiring to me. |

After eight years of having this utter embarassment in office, I see Obama being a welcome change in many ways. First off, we will have someone that represents the US that we can actually be proud of, a man that looks and speaks the part as opposed to a guy that can't form a literate sentence half the time. Obama looks to be a guy that actually cares. I am skeptical of whether he can do what he says he is going to do but at least he cares to try. Contrary to right wing rhetroic, he has laid out what he wants to do and how he plans to do it. Compare that to the alternative. Did you WATCH that interview? Did that NOT scare you? What does McCain plan to do? He doesn't say much other than he is going to "shake up washington" and "reform politics". Give me a break. So, I answered your question. Now answer mine. Do you really want to put this moron in office? |
No, I do not.

Is anyone here an African-American on the DT board? ddthetide, any respect you might want for your opinion on this matter flies out the window when you call Obama "boy" |

I believe Obama is the real deal, something that this cynic rarely feels about any politician. I think McCain might be pretty genuine, also. This liberal likes McCain in quite a few ways, but I think he'd be a lousy, maybe dangerous president. The pick of Sara Palin I find unsettling. In the Couric interview posted, she reminds me of times I went for a job interview that I was unqualified for. You tend to be real hesitant, repeat the few generalizations that you think you do know, etc.(Hey, I didn't need anyone to show me proof that Palin is an intellectual mediocrity;) ) I was repulsed by Kerry and, to a lesser extent, Dukakis. When Bill Clinton first ran for president, I liked him the least of all the main primary contenders that started out that election cycle. |

First, I tried viewing/loading the video but it was very choppy and I ran out of patience...that said I'm guessing that it is not very flattering of the Republican Vice Presidential nominee. Second, I'm not really in a position to fairly judge whether or not she is a moron...imo politics is a very dirty business and the media has the ability to paint extremely distorted pictures of any/all of the candidates... Third, I'm a bit older and a bit more cynical than I use to be... and as such I no longer believe that it much matters who is elected....imo there is way to much corruption and hypocrisy at the upper levels of both parties...The concept of a "Gov't of the People, By the People, For the People" seems to have been lost....our tax dollars are being (and will continue to be) squandered by members of both the republican and the democratic party. If Obama wins I truly hope he is the real deal...If McCain wins I truly hope that he is the real deal....As for Ms Palin I'd be a bit concerned if she were to ascend to the throne but in reality with the gridlock between the executive branch and the legislative branch will it really make that much of a difference. Change needs to occur....she certainly could be the biggest change...the question is would it be change for the good or change for the bad??? |

The thought of Ms. Palin being president of the US is much scarier than a third term for the W. |

I find her remark disgusting. |

1) Raising the capital gains tax- this would be insane and would kill an already depressed financial market 2) National Healthcare- this just doesn't work and is not a good idea. We actually already have National Healthcare it is called GET A JOB! These are just a few that I am concerned with. I have never liked any of the presidential candidates in any election I have ever voted in, but I believe we are in unprecedented financial times and any increases in either income or capital gain taxes will continue to keep our country in financial distress. |
