Didn't he get like a 6 on the Wonderlic? And everyone downplayed it?

Something like that.

All the Titans need is a quarterback who won't make stupid mistakes. It remains to be seen if Collins is that guy but he's been solid so far.

The defense is sick.

The Jet defense is strong when they're not playing on a short field, and when they can actually get some pressure on the QB. Rivers wasn't touched during that entire circus last night.

The Jets spent some big bucks in the offseason. Mangina will be on the hot seat if they miss the playoffs this year. There is no excuse for how bad they were last night.

I agree that we don't have many alternatives, but I would like to see them put in Ratliff and see what he can do. He was not bad with Utah.

GBBob 09-23-2008 12:23 PM

Maybe playing some D Monday night might have helped too? You can't have thought he would stop throwing INts just because he changed jerseys..He is who he is...but to wish for Vinny T instead I think is a little reactionary

ateamstupid 09-23-2008 12:24 PM

Really? A 1-2 start and already we're benching the QB, firing the coach and writing off the season?

The schedule is cake save for a few games and there have been some good things to build on. Everyone take a breath.

MaTH716 09-23-2008 01:07 PM

I just don't think the Jets have the personnel (mainly at WR) to be a powerhouse offensive team. I also believe that Favre is still learning the playbook at this point, but he isn't the answer to the teams woes anyway. He is just a short term fix that will try to get them to the playoffs and make the fans forget about the PSL's. Reguardless he/they were bad in the first half last night. As far as the D goes, they seem to be good at stopping the run and have a few potential good ones in the secondary. But they just do not get enough pressure on the QB.
But it was mentioned already. Looking at the schedule this is where everyone thought they would be 1-2. They were a play or two away from being 2-1 or even 0-3. Next week at home against the Cards is one they need.

wiphan 09-23-2008 02:22 PM

The question is will Favre make it thru the whole year with that O-line? He is gettting hammered and that old body is going to give out at some point. He has always thrown interceptions and will continue to do so. Limited running game, terrible o-line, 2 decent WR's and a bad defense will make for a long, long year for Brett. He should have took the $20 million and stayed home

The O-Line has been a disappointment so far, but it's far from terrible. Favre has other good WR's in Smith and Stuckey, plus starter caliber TE's in Keller and Baker. The defense is not bad and Brett will be fine. We got beaten up by a desperate team that many had winning the Super Bowl before the season. Not quite as rough as, say, losing 38-13 to the Dolphins at home.

If Arizona beats us Sunday, then I agree, push the panic button. If that doesn't happen, it's absurd to write off a 2-2 team heading into a bye followed by games against Cincinnati (home), Oakland, Kansas City (home), Buffalo and St. Louis (home).

Your right. The jets just lost to the team that got spanked by the dolphins at home, which makes them a far superior team and they have nothing to worry about. Having watched Brett Favre since 1992 you are in for a long year. He was a great QB that made his receivers better than they were earlier in his career, but last year his receivers made him look better than his stats showed. There is a reason why the packers moved on. Brett was sacked 15 times all of last year. At the current pace he will be sacked more than twice that this year. The packers protected him well and didn't let him get drilled. The Jets unfortunately don't look like they can do that. They should use Washington more and run some screen passes for him and try and protect favre more; otherwise it will be a sad end to a great career

I don't know Sean..I think you are being a little harsh on Favre's current ablity and not giving enough credit to the fact that he just learned this offense..what...6-7 weeks ago? He can still throw the long ball as well as anyone ( Jennings could have caught that MNF throw against Denver blindfolded LY). Now, if he's going to work as hard as he did last year off the field to learn the system, I think he's still the same QB as LY, unless he gets killed back there, to your point. And with the Jets schedule, that should be good enough for 8-8 or 9-7. Now Hooves and the Favre bashers think he sucked LY and therefore sucks TY, but if the Jets wanted the same QB as the Packers had LY, I think they have him

As a fellow long-suffering Jet fan, I of course am not ruling that out. All I'm saying is it's way early to be making judgments on the season, especially with the stretch of games they have coming up.

You make a lot of good points. He just looks old and tired to me, kind of like he did at the NFC championship game. He is getting killed back there as well. He is on pace to get sacked 43 times compared to 15 ly. That is going to hurt him. The AFC is full of weak teams right now and I think 3 teams in the NFC east are better than any team in the AFC so yes they have a shot and of course I want them to win, that gives the pack a better draft pick. I agree they have the same QB as ly, but they don't have the same WR's or RB's as the pack had which are far superior than the Jets.

You may be right about the O-Line, but you're wrong about this.
