The New College Campus
 

When I attended the University of Texas
the school was lily white. The majority of
females were sort of trying to graduate,
but many were going for their Mrs. degree.

Jeez no more.
Took my daughter up and planted her in her
dorm. One of the smaller campus dorms, 5 stories, but all girls.
Racial diversity rules. I was afraid her dorm would
be a rich, white sorority haven that it was when I attended.

No worries.

Except what happens when all the girls start cycling together?

90 % of my kids friends go to UT......that place is a really nice place to go to school....plenty of weed for every one.....and going to 6th street is a trip.
A real throwback town to the 60's.

The people along the drag are great entertainment for
the students. That has stayed virtually the same.
Definitely some flower children hanging out around
the students. And the students are allowed to participate.

Just pleasantly suprised at the change in the student population.

Do they still have the clocktower, the one the sniper shot everyone from?

Yep.
And now they are letting people back up.
It was off limits when I was a student in the late 70s early 80's.
Closed off. Scared that people would toss themselves off because
that also happened fairly frequently.

in fact, I never wore a watch except when I had tests. clock Tower was always there for me.

my daughter went off to college on thursday, she's about an hour and a half away. two out of the house, one to go!

When do I move in????:D

I am experiencing a bit of post partum depression.
This is my only offspring.

No one is around that will laugh when I fall or
hit my thumb with a hammer. Or when I get my
eyelid caught under the leg of a chair.

My wife just gets concerned.

I miss the laughing.

Big sap I am.

Anyways I may need some sort of therapy so
I will email Scuds.

My daughter leaves next Saturday!

My bags are packed:)

she's in the band, so she had to go a week early to start practicing. classes start the end of this week.
my youngest is a junior, two years to go! and my oldest is going to re-enlist in november--matter of fact, kev, i'll be in your neck of the woods in november for that...

but who better to turn kev down for then my one and only?

we'll be in norfolk part of thanksgiving week for his re-enlistment. he seems excited about it, really excited about his re-sign bonus!

ahh damn...I don't live on that side of the Va anymore. I'm in Roanoke now...about 4.5 hours away

A few of my daughter's friends moved in to their colleges this weekend and started classes today.
I'm just not looking forward to driving to Washington D.C. on Labor Day weekend. :zz:

i hear ya dd, i saw about the wreck on the chesa bay bridge..yikes!!

i talked to my daughter earlier, her roommate has already dropped band. and had a scholarship too, so wonder where she's going to get the money she just gave up. makes no sense.

well, that sucks...i was wondering how far from norfolk you were...

used to be 15 minutes...just across the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel

actually....I may try and make it home some time during Thanksgiving week. If so I will let you know.

it's going to be a hell of a trip, we're driving. leave early sat, get there sunday. leave wednesday i guess to get back here thursday so we can go to the lsu/ark game on friday.

i better stock up on books, that's a lot of riding.

Edited my last post. I may try and make it home sometime this year for Thanksgiving. Havent had dinner with my parents on thanksgiving in years.
