Hip 86 - NY Bred Lion Heart colt from a stakes winning mare that has produced a stakes winner (only offspring of racing age)...

He ought to catch big :$: :$: as long as he's remotely correct considering how well Lion Heart has done so far as a freshman sire -

Edit - stakes placed runner who's banked 500k so far - still for 125K it looks like Dogwood stole this one

Not crazy money, but Hip 68 just went for $900,000. That's the most expensive I've seen since I fired it up.

EDIT: Hip 80 went for $1.5 million.

Hip #77 was ENORMOUS and I of course :{>: 'ed the half to Most D. :o

This year they closed off the walking ring next to the bar so it was harder to get a good look at all the yearlings.

Chuck said he looked at #77 and determined her to be too big...

A lot of people must have because she didn't sell so well. Physically she reminded me of Curlin with that "big bruiser" of a frame, if she were a human she'd be one of those scary Russian athletes. :D

300k was pretty good for her. She wasnt that much like Curlin because of how narrow she was at her base. she just looked slow to me. The one I was really surprised at how well she sold was #97, a dixie Union filly who had a great athletic body and real loose walk but her right front hit the ground in the same way Sumwonlovesyou does. I guess that she may be able to overcome it but 340k was a lot of money for a horse with that conformation. Hip #2 a Ghostzapper filly had really suspect knees and was bought by a pinhooker, we will see where she shows up. Hip #4, a saint Liam filly was a nice horse who Mike Ryan bought right (120k). #10 was a Mr Greeley filly who was nice but 500k was a lot though she was bought by Euros (.50 dollars). #29 was a really nice The Cliffs Edge colt that Zito bought. If he was by a higher profile sire he would have brought a whole lot more. #61 looked like he was still immature and may be a bargin at 80k. #64 was not a good walker and didnt get sold. #65 was a nice horse, More than Ready filly, who brought a good price (150k). #74 was a Not for Love filly who brought 250k, good luck to them. #79 was a really nice Purge colt who went to mike Ryan for 150k. he looked exactly like Purge. #87 was a nice Officer colt who had a really bad attitude problem. #94 was a really nice war Chant that is going to England, which is probably where War Chant should go.

I really liked both of those too. Did you look at any of the Rock Hard Tens? #53 I really liked

I admit being biased against the horse, so I was surprised to like what I saw. I really don't like how they eliminated the extra walking rings.

Hey Chuck, if you get a chance take a look at Hip# 507 for me. He is a Pleasantly Perfect (big shocker I know), and 1/2 to David Junior. I also liked Hip #1629

I actually thought it was less safe with the changes this year, as all the horses from down back were walked through the crowd outside the sales office to get to the inner ring.

What does that mean? I wis everyone in the biz good luck, becasue I know how hard it can be.

i guess it was a wiseass way of saying that I think that was too much for that filly, way too much.

SARATOGA OFFERS BOUTIQUE YEARLING MARKET

If the massive Keeneland September auction is the Wal-Mart of yearling sales, then Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga select auction is the stylish little boutique. There are only 195 horses in the Saratoga catalog, and some of their pedigrees are quite fancy. Horses by such top sires as A.P. Indy, Distorted Humor, and Storm Cat are scheduled to be offered during the sale’s two-night run, Aug. 4 and 5, in New York.

“Saratoga is a very special auction,” said Lincoln Collins, an international bloodstock adviser. “There are a lot of people who enjoy the atmosphere, and they will be here. So far, I’ve seen a lot of nice horses, and I expect them to sell well even though the general economy has got to be a concern. At some point, the overproduction of Thoroughbreds is going to come home to roost this year, but I doubt that’s going to be the case here at Saratoga because all of the horses are so good.”

Also, the halves to Lost in the Fog and Ginger Brew only went for $150k and $50k. Must have been pretty crooked at that price.

Did anyone look at #160 c. Consolidator - Going Low?

He was a nice looking, rangy type horse. Had a pretty good walk and good conformation. Dont know exactly how much they wanted though

I absolutely loved him when he walked by, but was wondering if he vetted bad or something because he RNA'd for $250K or so.
