Even with the DH, still a nice payoff.

Thanks, Phil. Just like me to leave 2 horses off a ticket in a 10 horse field and have one dead heat me and the other finish third. Never thought the Lukas would beat me, but unfortunately for me, the 4 was much the best here, but had a tough trip way wide on the turn, but with any better of a trip there is no dead heat. I had $20WP on the 4 as well which eased some of the pain, but still took a decent ticket. Should have had it both ways using that many.

kgar311 08-04-2008 02:33 PM

Can someone expain this to me off the NYRA website:

$2 pick 4: 9-1-5,6-4,5 $910

and there was no second payoff for the deadheat.

* 9 won the 2nd race
* 1 won the 3rd race
* 6 won the 4th race, and if you used the 5 who was scratched you got the post time favorite (the 6, so a winner)
* 4 & 5 dead heated for the win in the 5th race

Well done. If that was my ticket, the 2 I wouldnt have used would have dead heated for first.

Shouldnt it be
9-1-5,6-4=?

9-1-5,6-5=?

They combine the payouts when there is a dead heat in NY, some states do it the other way (separate payouts)

Well thats just plain f*cking stupid. So if your 99-1 shot deat heats with a 1-9 shot you get the same payout in the pick 4.???

you get a 'combined' payout, so what they do is 'refigure' the payout with 'more' winning tickets. ( I think )

Thanks, GPK, I really loved the 4, Casse ships in live horses. Still smartin that Lukas got a piece of me here, although, the 4 got the better half of the payout.

Byk was just talking about this on his show the other day, you would think with computers these days they could calculate which % of the pool goes to which horse. It certainly rewards the player using the smaller shot.

hoovesupsideyourhead 08-04-2008 03:15 PM

i would suggest using the 1a entry in race 8:tro:

Just curious, what was the will pay to your 4 in the last leg vs. what you actually got?

Was $1,500+ for $2. Cost us all a bit but wasn't. awful because the lower number meant no IRS.

Nice job yourself on that early 4, Steve. Good point on the IRS. I should have just pressed the ALL button in the 5th and spent the extra $20. I probably should have played a smaller ticket for a larger amount in addition to that play considering I loved the 9 in the second and the 4 in the 5th, singling them and the 1 and using the 3,6 would not have cost me that much, but hindsight is 20/20.

I believe there is a consolation pk 3 in that circumstance, but Byk surely knows.
