Didnt Roman Emporer already win the barbaro stakes?

Yes he did, but that was at Pimlico. Both tracks renamed one of their 3 year old stakes too The Barbaro Stakes

Only two tracks did it?! That's an outrage.

SPRING WALTZ In an easy walk to the winners circle

HANDS DOWN!

Clip-Clop 07-10-2008 06:55 AM

She's All Eltish

Looked really good for a while there. Hope she comes back and has enough to hang on this time. Big Fan.

dalakhani 07-10-2008 10:22 AM

Its amazing that a grade 2 ten furlong race for fillies and mares at Del Park is coming up as one of the most competitive races of the year in any division.

I guess it is about the money.

Handicappy 07-10-2008 05:05 PM

It just seems not right that Kenny Desourmaux doesn't have a mount in a stakes called the Dick. Seems like something amiss there. :D

hockey2315 07-10-2008 05:22 PM

5-1 isn't a bad price on She's All Eltish - especially with Proud Spell's POSSIBLE vulnerability.

cowgirlintexas 07-11-2008 05:17 PM

Love Proud Spell but I am going to hope for an upset with the 1 horse Weathered.

That's a bit presumptuous with Hystericalady and Unbridled Belle in there don't you think?

I think if you train horses and you have a shot to put 60k in your pocket its about the money. It's not about the 540k to the owners IMO.. I would be of the opinion a G1 for 300k increases a mares have a lot more then a g2 at Delaware.

and dont forget about:

It seems to be a pretty deep race to me.

sumitas 07-12-2008 03:48 PM

Geesh Rosinka had the Robert Dick won and suddenly ducked out at the top of the stretch costing her a lot of momentum. She finished a shocking 3rd.

Because only 3 (maybe 4) horses can possibly win. . . I'd say the Manhattan has been the deepest/most competitive good race this year so far - only one or two horses in there had no shot.

Okay, the manhattan was "more competitive". Does it mean that quality was better? And even if it was better, does that make this an uncompetitive race?

My claim was that this is one of the most competitive fields in any division this year.

Your claim was that i was "way off".

Even if your contention that the manhattan was a better race is true, does that make my original statement "way off"?

How many times this year have we had this many viable open graded stake competitors in one race? Not many times...so...that would mean...that this is one of the most competitive races in any division so far this year...on paper.

hockey2315 07-12-2008 11:43 PM

I still disagree with you. . . but maybe my "way off" statement came from the expectation that you would be "way off" like you usually are.

So I guess the cheap shot is third grade window treatment for an unsubstantiated statement. Why bother?

You still disagree that this is one of the most competitive races in any division thus far this year? Okay. :)

Whoa Jeremy Plonk agrees with you?! I must be wrong then. . . This debate is stupid - I was just disagreeing with you for the sake of disagreeing - it's a reflex now every time you post.

You forgot Jerardi as well and anyone else with half a brain.

Again, if you cant man up and admit you were wrong then that makes you a ______.

Best of luck.

hockey2315 07-13-2008 12:10 PM

I won't admit to being wrong because I'm not - but I will admit to overstating a bit. You've become the new VI so I had to attack - for THAT I'm sorry.

Common pattern here. Someone makes a statement. Out of the blue, someone disagrees STRONGLY, in this case "youre way off here". Person who makes original statement disagrees and provides evidence to support original contention.

Then, person who originally disagrees STRONGLY, finds that his contention is completely baseless and instead of admitting as much decides to attack the poster with the original statement.

You are a very small little voice who has been beaten in this case. So shut up and quit embarassing yourself. Unless of course you can find something tangible to prove me wrong.

Another internet tough guy. LOL.

hockey2315 07-13-2008 12:22 PM

Your claim was that "Its amazing that a grade 2 ten furlong race for fillies and mares at Del Park is coming up as one of the most competitive races of the year in any division."

It's simply not that competitive - if Hystericalady gets clear enough and can get the distance she wins. If not, overrated horse for course Unbridled Belle wins. Maybe Spring Waltz gets involved.

The bottom line is that your original claim was kind of worthless and for some reason at the time I was in the mood to argue about it - now I just don't care. . .

About as worthless as claiming 22 and change quarters going 11f is "overrated"? LOL. No, you win that one.

As far as your opinion, I would say THAT is pretty worthless.

"if hysterical lady gets clear enough and can get the distance she wins"- a profound statement by hockey

NO **** sherlock...LOL. You really went out on a limb there. What is the difference between saying that and..

"if spring waltz runs back to her gulfstream races and she likes the track, she wins."

or

"unbridled belle runs back to her previous Delaware races, she wins."

or

"if mooncatcher can_______"

You havent said ****. Thats my point. Instead of looking to troll people why dont you learn a little something. You havent demonstrated any knowledge or any original thought that would put you in any position to criticize anyone else. You are merely a troll that has obviously picked the wrong target.

And what is up with that stupid Screen name? Hockey? What the **** is that?

hockey2315 07-13-2008 12:41 PM

I'm really not interested in getting in to this with you. . . You said the race was soooo competitive - I restated the obvious to say it ISN'T that competitive. . . Only a few horses have any shot barring something strange. Did the 11 horse field throw you off or did you look at the PPs before claiming the races incredible competitiveness. As for the rest of the stuff on the bottom - you're way off - and I think people on here would back me up. The screen name thing is incredibly childish - but if you want an explanation - it's just my really old AOL screen name. . . I guess you're right - i'm just and uncreative troll.

I would think, based on your responses, you will have more luck with the latter.

If you werent interested in getting into it with me, you shouldnt have taken those cheap shots.

As for the race, 11 horses in a distaff field is rare in and of itself. But if you want to discuss the individual merits of each horse:

1. mooncatcher- multiple graded stakes winner and 2-2 at track with lifetime best 100 beyer coming at the track.

2. Santa Teresita- stake winner. longhot. Finished nice second to Zenyatta last out. Pace impact.

3. All smiles- garbage filler

4. Buy the barrel- multiple stake winner including grade 2 last out. 5-2-1 at track.

5. Overunder- another pace impact although little chance to win.

6. Lemon Drop Mom- multiple stakes winner. 4 for 8 at track 7 for 8 in the money at track. Outsider but has a lifetime best 100 beyer at this track. Capable.

7. Kathleens Reel- another multiple stake winner. ran third in last two races in graded stake company.

8. Hysterical lady- Obvious credentials. But flopped in one try at course.

9. Unbridled belle- obvious again. 5-4-1 at track but has bounced of previous two 100+ beyer performances

10. Spring Waltz- has won four straight including grade 2 rampart. Last two beyers are better than anyone else in field.

11. Copper State- finished suck up second to unbridled belle last out. not much chance.

In all, 10 stake winners, 5 graded stake winners and 7 graded stakes placed horses.

Thats competitive any way you cut it and it is rare to see that type of field these days.

Hey, you got into this one on your own pal.

But you are the one with 6k posts. Who needs to find something to do here?

Thats what i thought.

You felt like your little butt buddy was in trouble and you felt the need to come to his aid.

This act of chivalry is truly astounding.

i wasn't coming to his aid, I actually didn't agree with him either.
I got involved because of your charade.

getting all high and mighty about how people shouldn't insult you, appealing for thoughtful debate, but then somehow every single one of your debates ends with you dishing out the insults and expletives more than anyone else, telling people to shut-up, and on and on.

you just can't help yourself can you? it always goes into the gutter with you, references to blow-up dolls and butt buddies. but that is all part of the act of being a top message board debater isn't it.

we've had your kind here many times. they don't last.

Danzig 07-13-2008 01:28 PM

not nearly as astounding as not one, but two threads with the same two people having at it.

Well, you go back show me where i started it on any of the insults or name calling. you cant...

Even this one. You start it and i retorted. You dont like my retorts then dont come at me.

Now shooo...unless you want to discuss the delaware handicap. If not, then shut up...blow up doll boy.

dalakhani 07-13-2008 04:31 PM

interesting. Three scratches (1,5,11) with the 1 being the only one of the three that would have taken money.

With 17 minutes left to post time:

Hysterical lady is 9/2 off of a 3/1 morning line

Spring waltz is 2/1 off of a 5-1 morning line

Unbridled belle is 3/2 off of a 2-1 morning line

Buy the barrel is 6-1 off of an 8-1 morning line

The lack of respect for Hysterical Lady is surprising especially considering the 1 and the 5 that scratched were both pace factors that she no longer has to deal with. She looks like lone speed now.

Coach Pants 07-13-2008 04:41 PM

I'm taking Lemon Drop Mom.

20 across.

Scav 07-13-2008 04:45 PM

I would be tossing Unbridled Belle, she was acting all "Kicken N Screamin" in the paddock and actually fell over according to ESPN.

dalakhani 07-13-2008 04:47 PM

i took spring waltz.

good luck.
