Hollywood nights.

Only a couple Friday nights left at "The Wood". Tonights sequance looks a little more manageable than the impossible one that payed a hefty 23 thousand dollar reward last Friday.
RACE1
#1 DISCOVER DOLLY-SCRATCH2nd off a short layoff and coming off a maiden score at the same distance. 3rd place finisher won her next time out. She should get a ground saving stalking trip, hopefully she doesn't bounce of her career high 69 Beyer.
#4 E BEE GIRL-3 year old filly dropping back into the claiming company after running 5th in a starter allowance race where she had the rail. She also should be near the front of this small field.
#2 CANONITA-With the 1 being scratched, I decided to include the 2 into the pick 4. Looked at this horse originally, but really didn't want to be 3 deep in a 5 horse race. 3rd off the layoff and dropping to her lowest level to date. She probably will try to go wire to wire. Did break her maiden at this distance last April and followed it with a 2nd place finish in a non winners of 1 race. Seems like she has been fading late in races latley. Maybe the drop is what she needs.
RACE 2
#3 DICE AFARE-2nd start for this 4 year old filly who ran 3rd in her debut. Drops to 25k and picks up Bejerano who is winning at a 33% clip when riding for Cerin.
#8 WARREN'S COOKIE-Probale favorite and maybe even a single on many tickets. This 3 year old seems to be improving in each start. Just missed last time out in the same conditions she also has a swift work going into this race.

NOTE:#5 PARTY PUNCH and #7 FOXY LADY are both coming out of the same race as the 8. Hard to endorse a horse that has hit the board once in 9 starts, but the 5 should be coming late in a race that could fall apart. She finished a couple of lenghts behind the 8 last out. As for the 7, it's her 2nd start off a layoff. She did not run bad in her first start back. Lightly raced trainer has good numbers 2nd off the layoff, plus gets in 5 lbs light.

RACE 3
#1 HOTITUDE-This 4 year old closer makes her 2nd start off a layoff. Between July through November she ran 1st or 2nd 6 out of her 7 races all in sprints. She will be coming late in a race with some speed in it.
#3 GONE CALIFORNIAN-Another possible single on many tickets. First start for this filly in the barn of Frank Santangelo. Stalking type horse should be in a good spot heading for home and shows a good work going into this race.
#9 KREEKER-She is making her 57th career start today and almost lit the board up last out at 48-1. Another dead closer that should be coming from beind. She too has a good work going into this race.

RACE 4
#1 PEACE PROSPECT-From the Han Moon barn (I know, I know) this horse is making a big drop. Horse has never hit the board but does have the best and most constant beyers of the field.
#2 TIGLEY-1st time started from the barn of Brian Koriner. He has a couple of decent works going into the race for a trainer that is winning at a 25% clip with horses debuting in the claiming ranks.
#5 DYNAQUAKE-This 3 year old held on for 2nd last out after drilling a half in 44:2. The 3rd place finisher of that race came back to win next time out. Takes the shade off and seems to be the speed of the race. Also has a quick work going into this race.
#9 JOSHUA'S DREAM- 1st time starter from the Eric Guillot barn who is connecting with 23% of his firsters. Sports a couple of decent works including a couple at the 6f distance.

1) 1-2-4 (1 scratched)
2) 3-8
3) 1-3-9
4) 1-2-5-9
$48 GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

Hollywood Knights

That is a classic movie MaTH....although I haven't watched it in 20 years, so it may not be quite as funny now that I am old.

Haven't even printed the form for tonight. 14 hours at work today have worn me right down to zero.

I'm going to watch, as long as I can stay awake, and root.

Good luck.

Long live Newbomb Turk.

Thanks, The card actually looks crappy, but I love these Friday nights when everyone is in bed and I get to enjoy the races all by my lonesome self. Only a couple left, so I have to make them count.

MaTH716 06-27-2008 09:08 PM

Schrupp is such a moron, didn't even know Heatseeker was scratched fron the HGC!

-BT- 06-27-2008 09:10 PM

ha Ron Sticka

head back to no-cal for state-bred 5K claimers..... that horse lost a gasket before they got to the turn

i'm root'n for you to bring this home now MaTh, show me how its done:D

MaTH716 06-27-2008 09:16 PM

Me and you have almost identical tickets, so hopefully we both hit. I also played a small pick 3 to try to protect myself using 4/5,8/3,8. $148.90

You are right about the Sticka horse. After the fact I am so mad I didn't single the 4, but I really thought that there was a chance that the 2 could get loose on the lead. That plus the drop made me think she had a chance, but she looked awful.
Let's bring it home BT!

Sorry BT for some reason I thought you singled the 4, bummer!

Heard that.

It's his JOB, how in the f does he not know that? Too busy napping this afternoon? All it takes is a click onto Bloodhorse, DRF, etc.. for a minute or two before you go on the freaking air.

It's his JOB.

Even worse, they are based at the F'n track. Are you telling me that not one person at Hollywood or on the set were talking about one of the top horses in the nation right now pulling out of a major race. Ridiculous!

Is it still very quiet in the house and if so when does everyone get home?

MaTH716 06-27-2008 09:31 PM

Race 2,
Exacta's 8/1,3,5,7 and tri 8/3,5/1,3,5,7

jcs11204 06-27-2008 09:32 PM

im going to bet the 8 to win here, almost by default, i think 3 the is a PIG... And 2-1 is actually decent on this 8, going to actually bet this 8 horse pretty heavy in the second, good luck

Race 5

As much as I hate to include, how do you leave Cape Town King off? He already had a more than a year layoff and came back running. Who's to say the magic Mullins potion doesn't work here off another monster layoff?

I'd love to say no way, but I would hate to let this one beat me.

Bah. Who talked me into printing these anyway?

What the hell must have happened tothis horse that Mullins took him for 62k and then had to put him on the bench for a year. The only thing is that there seems to be a ton of pace in the race and he wants to be near the lead too. I can't figure out Mullins, I use him and he is up the track, I go against him and he wins by daylight.

MaTH716 06-27-2008 09:58 PM

Race 3 live to the 3,8 in a pick 3.
Played a exacta bx with the 3 closers 1,3,9.
Triple 3/1,9/1,8,9

it makes some sense since i think Greg Black N White is gonna be shaky on the front end regardless if they're cutting back to 5 1/2 or not

the #5 My Friend Luis caught my eye, coming back for new connections, and for the life of me i can't find a way to shake the #7 Scottish Diamond from my ticket

blahhhhhh:mad:

Thanks BT, I have to admit, that is something I learned on this board. I was never smart enough to think about backing up/protecting bets with other ones. I thank the DT family for that.

No to Scottish Diamond.

Yes to My Friend Luis (esp. the way the horses have won so far tonight).

pointman 06-27-2008 10:16 PM

Bigs, the family is out of town and you didn't have this card capped?

here's another head scratcher

#10 Peeka Buddha

Koriner buys the horse for 115K and enters him first time out for a 25K tag? sounds like a play from the Doug O'Neil book..... But i think the #7 Cavanaugh is the logical choice in the night cap

Dude I left the house at 6:00am and got home at 8:30pm. Possibly my worst day at my job, ever.

It's a minor miracle that I am still awake....

I'm on it now. The 6th race is giving me trouble though. A bunch of sprinters stretching out....

MaTH716 06-27-2008 10:28 PM

Taking a stab with the 9 here in the 4th. WP and with the 1,2,5 in exacta's

Bigsmc 06-27-2008 10:44 PM

Okay, if I'm staying up way too late, I'm going to try to beat the obvious single. Come on closers.

5 - 2,4,5
6 - 1,2,7,9
7 - 3
8 - 3,6,7,10

Wish I had time to cap it, packing right now as I am moving next week. Where is Root?

Moving next week? Do you an Pmac do everything together?

LOL, true, both of us are moving but just a coincidence. When I looked briefly there appeared to two solid horses late, Overly Tempting and Cavanaugh. Maybe go long in the 6th, even all and 1 or 2 horses in the last two races?

Curious ride by Rosario on Cavanaugh last out. He put him on the lead too soon and the winner blew him away. Does Rosario see how the track is playing and take him back (the way it seems the horse wants to run) or does he push him to the lead again and blow the deal?
