6/19: Belmont ($35k C/O)

Hollywood's Wednesday carryover proved as rewarding as anticipated bringing back $72,000 to those that navigated the fun, tricky slate. While I managed to get the winners of all 6 races into the selections, only 3 were among the top tabs meaning a $4,300 ticket would have been required to take down the pot. Still, it was a very enjoyable afternoon playing at Inglewood as a couple of hits ($20.40 'Best Value' War Scandal) made it an OK day. $35,000 Belmont carry looks worth attempting Thursday! Hope you did well yesterday...

These two both had trouble last out and conceivably could've won with clear trips. Anchor man back up on II, unfortunately.
Sly was uncharacteristically closer to the pace last out and now he adds a furlong, which should dull his kick.

I figured you'd be on both of these.

Hawkeye

It's incredible with Joe Aquilino; not only is the dude a bad trainer but he almost NEVER gets a break when it comes to racing luck.

blackthroatedwind 06-19-2008 08:57 AM

It's amazing what you come up with when you actually watch races.

CSC 06-19-2008 09:25 AM

Yeah I'm lucky enough to get replays for almost all the tracks, but boy it takes alot of viewing time to form an opinion, that is why maybe I should just keep my mouth shut.:zz:

What's up with Castellano getting all the gate- horse rides on turf lately? Thought he did his best herding on the turn? It's Not For Love can keep Jelly Roll wide going into that subtle turn out of the shoot,

EDIT: actually, if It's not for love and Jelly Roll separate from the pack on their own, INFL will find herself alone on the front entering the stretch. ... could happen

the 4 looked like a winner, full of run until she felt the whip. then she went nutty.

I want to complain about the lack of turf speed jockeys in NY when JJ and Hill are impersonating them, and ask why Dominguez went to delaware if he isn't getting any Larry Jones money...
but at 1st glance platinumplus just had a ton more in the stretch.

Can't go for the low odds Sly in the finale, but will try JR on David's Skye in the 7th(though this thinking that jockey/agent know best has not reaped rewards for me in the past)

It's tough seeing the 5 not finishing in the money.

Hopefully the 9 doesn't go out on the easy lead. I kind of like the 9 here

what the hell did Castellano have to do today on INFL and yesterday on FIFIFO.

Get a CLUE knucklehead.

there aren't a lot of good jockeys these trainers can switch to even with obvious intentions of winning by an easy lead. Castellano is the best they got, so they have to stick with him and he HAS to try to be a speed jockey for that race and do his best.

Couldn't have asked for a better pace scenario. Good call.

They didn't rush him, and he made a bigger finish then I thought he had in him. Pretty good finish for that race overall. 953 all ran pretty hard

He got beat late today, by a horse that was better. The ride was fine. I'm going to let you in on a little secret, you aren't half as knowledgable as you think.

Now go try and bang out your $3 a day SON.

The question is why is Castellano called on to play these wire to wire roles, or in other words "where are the wire-to-wire turf/route specialists in NY"?

The one wire-to-wire easy pace victory that really sticks in my head is Backseat Rhythm going a mile and a quarter in slow fractions to beat Sentimental Union. That jockey did a pretty good job, which one was that?

Anyway its time to go to the park and bang out some free throws if i can beat the tstorms.

Coach Pants 06-19-2008 04:23 PM

It more than likely wouldn't have changed the outcome of the race but Garcia ridiculously goes inside and gets pinned.

Watching these pinheads repeatedly make the same mistakes is just amazing.
