Body Blows & Can She Dance

thanks Hooves. I think Body Blows has a realistic shot at a decent price. Meets what look to be several high-priced busts who are sure to be overbet. Sciacca's #s sure don't inspire confidence but the return of Cornelio V does. I also like Donk's Can She Dance off the bench at a price in the finale vs a pretty lackluster bunch. Luring JR for the ride despite the presence of an O'Brien horse in the field intrigues.

blackthroatedwind 06-18-2008 10:40 AM

I bet Body Blows last time and he had a perfect trip. I guess it's an easier spot today but he also won't be anywhere close to the 34:1 he was last week.

the_fat_man 06-18-2008 10:45 AM

He's probably better going 6 than 7. But he needs the race to collapse.

There are a couple possible bad speeds and he did lose to better horses last time. You're probably right about 6F being better.

He's certainly possible....I just have trouble taking the shorter price after he was 34:1 the other day.

the_fat_man 06-18-2008 11:11 AM

I don't like him today.

In the meantime, why is Cherokee Queen 3:2?

Kasept 06-18-2008 11:24 AM

When Body Blows won Labor Day at Saratoga last year, with Gary's 19-1 entry 1-2, it was one of the most joyful celebratory afternoons at the Barbecue in my memory... John Magliocco (Fertile Acres) is another of Gary's wonderful owners, and the win in the colt's debut was a thriller and a great cap to the meet. (How Pano's Love came 2nd was even more remarkable. Had he been a seperate betting interest, he'd have been 80-1..)

talking about race tactics, not value you knucklehead.

She is a terrible value, she should be 6-1, but she can win if she can actually clear from the outside before the first turn. Castellano isn't exactly a wire-to-wire type of jockey either.

Bobby Fischer 06-18-2008 12:01 PM

Lmao At You Hahahahaha

Did You Watch The Run To The Turn??

the_fat_man 06-18-2008 12:03 PM

It's ****in AMAZING. SHUG has all his horses trained, like MATZ, to suck up inside. Where they get perfect trip after perfect trip.

So, it can be done, to all those claiming it's hard to train a horse to do a particular thing.

Coach Pants 06-18-2008 12:04 PM

Sentimental Union...the typical suckup.

hoovesupsideyourhead 06-18-2008 12:07 PM

thats was a perfect ride by jj...and prado..

Yup

The winner got a slightly BETTER trip than she did last out with Prado up.

Too bad there wasn't enough IDIOT money on the 7 to get the 1 to a betable level.

your getting on bad side now...yes we all saw the race ..

blackthroatedwind 06-18-2008 12:27 PM

The horse was rank with the blinkers. Over blaming Castellano for that race is amateurish.

She stunk the joint up anyway. The bottom line is she's just not much horse.....and the board mush loved her which should have prevented anyone silly enough to like her beforehand from playing her.

the_fat_man 06-18-2008 12:32 PM

Anyone interested in some out of town turf might want to take a look at MTH R4.

2 interesting sprinters stretching out.

I typically never bet this angle, but this is MTH, after all

1) Mewow --- interesting late run after running very greenly on the backstretch

2) Echt -- close a ton in race that didn't come back --- however, there was trouble in this race and the 2nd horse was probably best

Looking to take a shot with Mewow, assuming I get > 10:1

P.S. Why West, butchered by Smith down in GP, and no longer trained by Tagg, is in today's 3rd at MTH.

I also noticed that Hooves.... 7-1 is pretty juicy in this sub-par field

totally true.

the whole entire race revolved around one central issue:
"could a certain horse clear from that post and get the easy lead"
it wasn't about snide remarks, it certainly wasn't about suckup this or suckup that. It wasn't about blaming a jockey.

JJ performed consistently with his expectations. Which is what you WANT.

It was evident BEFORE the race.

I thought the shug horse might win it before the race, but it was going to be a low quality race to wager on regardless.

these Turf allowance and lower at belmont going 9f+ are hit or miss and half of them revolve around a tactic or have too slow of a pace. A lot of bet backs if you see that and wait for a horse to be placed in a"real" race.

Coach Pants 06-18-2008 12:48 PM

Manitoba Miss...

Maiden claimer next out?

that was getting a pace advantage on a speed favoring track, having it ALL your own way, and still losing

this is why all the Sartin fanatics are all over these ****in bush tracks

Tough beat, but Luck is a typical NYB hanger and the 9 was best by about 6 lengths. . .
