Adriano at Colonial and Ruth vs 'Benny

That's an interesting pair of grade 3's this weekend at Colonial.

Adriano goes back to turf for Mott and is the second highweight behind Sporting Art.

In the other race, Valbenny squares off against Rutherienne.

Pretty decent grade threes!

Very impressive race last out by Runtherienne. She actually was in the TWO path for a portion of the race. Bet it took a lot out of her.

i hope they pound sporting art... but i doubt it.
adriano cruises

I wonder if Valbenny or Rutherian will be cross entered in the New York Handicap at Belmont.

I also wonder if anyone can beat Sailor's Cap.

Valbenny didn't nominate so I guess she's stuck here. An option for Rutherienne though.

I'm so excited my first visit to Colonial Downs will include seeing Court Vision.

what do u think about Kentucky Bear?

RolloTomasi 06-16-2008 02:49 PM

Kentucky Bear is interesting being by Mr. Greeley, who has gotten a lot of turf runners. Don't particularly care for the connections, who have run him in nothing but top level races since his good maiden win, with little to show for it. Was OK in the Blue Grass and made a decent middle move in the Preakness, so there's some potential there, but he would be better served with an allowance race or two before jumping back into stakes.

Oh, so as usual, you handicapped the race without looking at the pps. However, I thought at least you look at the entries before handicapping.

I misread who wrote the post.

That's funny....I thought it was the village idiot who earlier declared he liked Adrianno.

Sorry. At least I got to laugh.

i dont even know why i asked about court vision

Indian Charlie 06-16-2008 04:13 PM

BTW, why the confidence on Sailor's Cap?

If memory serves me correctly, Adriano crushed him, though he did battle on a fast pace in that race.

Sailor's Cap's last start was okay, and I'm sure that since that winner came back and romped, people will bet SC, but still.

His last start was better than OK, he was the only one to signifcantly close on that turf course in two days, IIRC.

blackthroatedwind 06-16-2008 04:17 PM

Sailor's Cap has gotten his act together since that race. Plus, he was burned in a torrid speed duel that day that set the table for Adriano to a run a race that has continued to cost you money.

Plus, while Sailor's Cap has been brought along the right way by a very good trainer, Adriano has been run in a couple of very questionable spots.

Agreed, but unfortunately the Virginia race lacks pace, and he may be best served by using his natural speed to his advantage. However, that may well not be the way he will run best. It's a conundrum.

What do you make of Sporting Art's flop at Arlington? Any legitimate excuse?

You should watch the race. First of all, the winner wired the field, secondly he was hung out to no man's land on the first turn, but mostly he was put in a package on the turn and stretch. He probably was clear, between horses, late, but nobody really gained and he never really had a fair chance.
