BELMONT WED. C/O: 'my thank you note'
While making a cursory first look at the last 6 races on Wednesday I am somewhat flabbergasted by the absence of the obligatory Maiden Claimer, MSW, 10K claimer or multiples of the above. Somebody got the sequence and conditions right this time although I am sure the 6 and 7F turf sprints will draw ire from those who would rather bet jumpers than bet turf sprints. A very fair yet challenging P6 Wednesday will probably reach 3 million in the pot and should be drawn regularly on carry days but for what ever reason gets carded contrary far too often. For all the grief the NYRA racing secretary takes regularly let me be among the first to say thank you for fine effort with this one. |
Once you look at the PP's, I think you'll be tearing up that thank you note. The quality of the fields ranges from mediocre to bad.

You must favor those 5,000k claimers at CD or the 4 horse fields at GG. |

Personally, I think you stand on very week ground for someone who speaks authoritatively about a lot of things in the game. |

With 4 days to handicap, I have very certain opinions about the card and I'll either be right or wrong, but I won't be sitting on the sidelines. |

YOU are commenting on a different issue.:zz: ..the DIFFICULTY of handicapping the card for a pick 6...: or maybe YOU can explain precisely "how the (alleged) mediocre or bad stock" in the P6 at Belmont RELATE to constructing a pick 6? |

I really don't care what ground you think I stand on, because I don't claim to have any above average knowledge of the game. However, I have opinions, and just because you back yours up with "I'm Andy Serling, you're not," doesn't mean I'm not going to continue to have them and express them. |

That's hot. |
BS Joey. You probably looked at the card for two seconds and made some flip comment. Too bad if you don't like being called out for it. However, you make a lot of brash statements around here and barely ever get called out them ( and never by anybody but me ).
I've only looked at the card for a few minutes myself, and so far it looks pretty interesting. The point of my question to you, if you took time away from your usual victim stance, was that if you actually spent time looking at racing around the country you would know that this card is well above average. |
Quote:
That's more BS Hooves. That wasn't what I said at all, and if Joey wasn't so into playing the victim he would have understood what I posted. |

And I've looked at the card for about two hours now.. Still mediocre, COMPARED TO WHAT'S THERE USUALLY. |

About the card, I have looked at it for now 3 hours, and I haven't had the benefit of replays yet but I have to say that I don't see a single 'confident' single.
Considerations would be Myakka(I think this race has a bunch of bad bad horses in there and the first to the lead might win, and even if there is a some BS speed from someone, his outside post will allow him to sit chilly for a little while), or Dancing Tin Man (a little interesting if the pace develops, has some number power) I do kinda like Pluralcity first time turf but I worry about him getting hooked up with the speed. Pennington is interesting in that race also. |

How much will you guys put into this? The reason im asking is that my brother has read the Crist book and now wants to take on the pk4/6 worlds. I keep telling him that it takes a good bit of money and i feel pretty lucky when i get one race right much less 6 but he is damned and determined to give it a shot. I guess its cool b/c maybe my brother will get obsessed with this game like i am. I just dont see how we can spend more then $300 on it and yes i know thats not enough but still want to take a shot at what should be a super pool and some decent races it looks like,

This is a great thread. It's Like Turkey going "all in" against Greece. Somebody using the term "blackthroatedwind" gets the honor of being Turkey. You did take the 1st cut. So, for sure, you get to be Turkey.

You're right.....I was being a dick. Sorry. |
No more Turkey :wf :wf :o

I found two singles for me that will allow me to spread in the other 4 races. It's just the way I will play it, and my reasoning won't be for everyone. If I cash with my 2 singles, who I happen to really like, they will both be at a decent price and the payday could be on the large side.
Especially if I beat Dancing Tin Man in the 6th, who will be the favorite and is Litfin's Best Bet. DTM's late moves aren't as fast as they appear as he came home in 30 sec flat for his last 5/16's last time out and 29 and 3/5ths 2 back, after a crawl through the majority of the race. I LOVE Stormy Mirage here, and he'll be a fair price. One of the few to graduate at the Open MSW level, and even though he's facing winners for the first time, he absolutely flew home last time, getting his last 3f in 34 and 3/5ths. My second single will be a horse that most of you will not like, La Ransom. She may go off as high a price as ever today, but here is why I like. Last time she broke from the rail (10/18/7), sprinting on turf, she went right to the lead and never looked back. That was with KJD aboard and he's back on today. I don't see anyone who's going to go 22, 45 and 2/5ths even though there is other speed signed on. Lastly, the winner of her last is a lot better than she ran on the 22nd, trust me I know. And as everyone can see Lost Without You came back to win last time. So, I give this second off the layoff the big thumbs up. Like I said, this isn't for everyone, but if I get through these two races clean, it'll give me quite a few chances in the other 4 races. Good Luck to everyone. |
