Schuylerville/Saratoga
Heres one hint on opening day. The best clocker alive told me before Cotton Blossoms debut that she was the goods. He also tells me that she is LOTS better than her debut suggests. Not that her debut was bad, it earned the second best TG sheet number in the field, but man said she was green that day attempting to lug in and that the race was nowhere near indicative of how good she really is. Make sure you send it in heavily on her. Her average beyer speed fig may actually lend rare value to a Pletcher/Velazquez horse. Don't say i didn't tell you.

No way I am missing opening day at Toga. |
Thanks Oracle
Also, the 4 sheet number the outside Breen filly earned looks like could be the prelude to a bounce...

The Schuylerville S. (G3) makes its return on Opening Day at Saratoga after a one-year respite. Nine juvenile fillies are expected to enter the starting gate, which includes an entry. The lone runner in the field boasting more than just a single victory on her resume is the Kelly Breen-trained DESIRE TO EXCEL (Mt. Livermore), who annexed the Astoria S. by five widening lengths earlier this month at Belmont Park.
Other notables in the feature include COTTON BLOSSOM (Broken Vow), who is trained by Todd Pletcher. Cotton Blossom was a facile winner in her Monmouth Park debut in June, and has trained regularly since that effort, including a "get acquainted" work over the Saratoga main track last week. Also expected to attract support at the mutuel windows are AUDACIOUS CHLOE (More Than Ready), also trained by Pletcher, and CHIEF OFFICER (Officer), who decimated a field of New York-breds in her unveiling and will be equipped with first-time Lasix for the Schuylerville. She will be coupled in the wagering with BARONESS THATCHER (Johannesburg). |

Betting heavily into any 2yr old race at Saratoga is not a wise move.

The entry prob will be the favorite and deservingly so. But no way do I touch this race. Cotton was very very green in the debut, and who is to say that the horse still isnt green. If Cotton is green in this race, the horse will lose. I like the potential of about 3-5 runners in this field, but I dont think this is a good betting race at all.

While this horse ran greenly, isnt this a reason to see improvement? I havent looked at the pps but I will say thanks for the inside info Ora.
|
thanks for the heads up Oracle-any info that can help separate these 2yos is helpful. I read in the DRF that Mott plans to scratch Chief Officer.

I'll go with Desire To Excel in this one. Angel Island has the pedigree I like. But she's been off 97 days after her winning debut. The connections changed trainers from Asmussen after the win to Blasi. Seems unusual here.
Desire To Excel. |
Blasi is Assumussen's assistant trainer, he is on suspension

Thank for the info oracle.
|
I bet $50 to win on her oracle
Didn't even look at the pp's |
Easy money Oracle-gotta love padding the bankroll on day one. Thanks for the info.
|
Thanks a bunch oracle
that helped me out |
The horse looked good. Looked much much better than his last effort. After all the info Oracle gave out (and who couldnt agree) I still couldnt make myself bet this race. These 2 year olds scare me a little--lol. But great info Oracle. Hey, I am in a handicapping contest this weekend at Keeneland--Saratoga is a track where I can wager--any info would be awesome.

Thanks Oracle
First the CCA Oaks at 9-1 and now the Spa opening day feature at 8-1...
Bring it on.... Nice win bet and have 5 double possibilities... Keep it up Mike. All those naysayers look at the tote board!!! :) PSH |
Oracle is the MAN ... $18.60 to win !!!
|
Nice pick. I wish I had the balls to bet real money on 2yr olds. Still $186 for $20 is better than most exactas.
|
Nice call on Cotton Blossom...unfortunately, I couldn't take advantage of this one, stuck at work. I hope everyone backed up the trucks on this one. Somebody is on fire...keep it goin'!!!
|
Glad I stopped by OTB during lunch!! Thanks Big O.
|
wow nice call. You made my opener. Thanks Kenny P
|
Man, I feel like the guy that didn't get in on the winning lottery ticket at the office!!!!! I hope there's more where that came from :(
|
You have to take those 8-1 Pletcher horses when you can. You don't get value like that very often. The next Pletcher/Dogwood horse won't be nearly that price.
|
I know I posted that I put the $50 to win on her, but I also had the double to the 8 for $3.00 and the exacta in the last, and $20 win on the 8 in the last.
I am giving Oracle the credit here, thanks a lot man. That will last me for a little while. |
Sorry for posting after the race, but i didn't want to jinx myself.
|
THANKS ORACLE! Wheeled that Cotton Blossom in the double for $5!!!
|
some people like to wait until a horse is 1/9
and then pound their chest and say, "I knew it" that was a good win Nice of you to share anything going Saturday? ;-) |

No Doubt. I couldn't believe a Pletcher/Velazquez horse (IN A 2YO STAKES RACE!!) went off at 8-1!! Thanks O-Man!! I cashed with a win bet and the grand slam! You da man! |
Great call Oracle!
|
You guys are all very welcome. Glad you could all start out nicely.
Boldruler someday you will learn that agents off in Korea to "look at a stallion" and knowing the guy who knows the people who own so and so isn't knowing ****. The guys with real info and knowledge are guys who give out information like I posted, how much money can you make by telling anyone who so and so just bought at a sale? |

Thanks for the head up....again, I fail to bet it properly and end up losing money on the day.... |

I still say betting a ton on 2yr olds is crazy. You keep giving out 2yr olds and I guarantee by the end of the meet you will be in the negative. For the record, I had the winner. Not too hard to come up with Pletcher/Velasquez in a 2yr old race at Saratoga. You make it sound like you picked something that nobody else figured. I used to always bet Mott/Bailey when there is value and I always bet Pletcher/Velasquez when there is value. Only an idiot wouldn't. |

And good luck with owning. Lemme know if you need any help picking out a grade one winner, judging by my incoming calls the last week, apparently a lot of people would like some help.:) |

Good for you with your grade 1 horse and your business. People like me depend on people like you to help us spend our money. |
