|
God you scared the crap outta me..... I thought it was gonna be about Kieren Fallon. Whew.
I had never heard of him... looked him up, one win (Baden Baden). No idea... one to watch? I didn't know a single name in the field. Fill us in! |

He looks salty for sure

Looks more suited to Dirt than turf but without knowledge of the opposition very hard to distinguish
|
Its lock like that horse name DIABOLICAL, remember his first races in I dont remember wich country, and he went this year to DUBAI and did nothing.
Sometimes in ship races and on other minor cuality, you may fine wath it seam to be a super horse, but depends against how his is racing. I don get to much excited for this one. Sorry :o |
Racing Post...
Hungarian star sprinter set for stiffest test Neil Clark HUNGARIAN sprinter Overdose, whose unbeaten exploits have led to comparisons with the legendary Kincsem, will bid to extend his winning sequence to ten in Sunday's Group 2 Goldene Peitsche at Baden-Baden. Sandor Ribarszki's Starborough colt, who has won all of his nine starts by an aggregate of 85 and a half lengths, recorded his latest victory in the Group 3 Lotto-Trophy at Hamburg at last month – despite not being at his best following a hoof problem. Connections have said that after Sunday's 6f event, the three-year-old will head to Longchamp for the Prixde L'Abbaye on October 5, where he will bid to become the first-ever Hungarian trained winner of the race. However he fares on Sunday, Overdose has quite a way to go before he emulates Kincsem, Hungary's star of the Victorian era who wentunbeaten in 54 races. Overdose faces his most testing assignment to date on Sunday, when he will face a maximum of eight rivals in the €70,000 race, including three British-trained entries, all of them Group 3 winners, namely the Michael Jarvis-trained Ancien Regime, Intrepid Jack (Hughie Morrison) and Starlit Sands (Sir Mark Prescott). Also in the field is the German-trained dual Group 3 winner Abbadjinn who finished second to Overdose at Hamburg last month, and the French-trained Group 3 winner Mariol, who finished third in the Hamburg race. |
I was speaking to some German friends of mine at Newmarket last Friday and I asked them about him. To be honest, the report was quite downbeat. He looks impressive in his races but he is yet to beat any serious horses by all accounts.
His wins are likely to be as good as he is. I hope he runs well in this Gr2, as it's the race my father's horse won a few years ago. |
yeah, he has been making a few noises over here - Its very difficult to know exactly what to make of his form - Germans are hardly known for their sprinters, but he is winning them by good margins and has yet to be tested really. We've already had a Spanish trained winner at Royal Ascot, why not a Hungarian trained winner at the Arc meeting..
|
He won!
|
Runs back in about an hour..
"Ran" earlier in 54 seconds :p We'll see if they re-enter him. |
No more live feed from France :( Anyone that can see the race let me know if Overdose wins.
|
I was standing beside a fair few Hungarian fans all dressed up in Hungarian flags and they went crazy when Overdose "won" the Abbaye not realising that it was a false start. Then he was declared a non runner for the real race!! They must have been shattered
|
11 straight for Overdose, won a G3 in Italy by 10 lengths.. This guy is defo G1 class and up there with the best sprinters in Europe..

it was such a shame about the circumstances of his last race, as he would have been difficult to beat from the front that day, on softish ground that we know he loves. On quicker ground, he may find it a bit tougher, but he does have oodles of class that would carry him a long way..
|
I agree..I was dissapointed as well with what happend in his last on Arc Day..Please keep us posted if/when he runs again.
|
From the race Sunday..

Go on my son:
from racingpost! HUNGARIAN sprinting sensation Overdose started 2009 where he left off 2008 when the ‘Budapest Bullet’ blitzed his rivals with an eight-length victory on his seasonal debut at home at Kincsem Park on Sunday. Ridden by Christophe Soumillon, who has committed to ride him all season, the four-year-old son of Starborough received a standing ovation as he took his unbeaten record to 12 with a comfortable success inthe OTP Hungarian Nagydij (Hungarian Grand Prix). Soumillon sent Overdose to the front after two furlongs and he was soon in complete command against overmatched rivals in the 7m forint (£21,000 event) – a smallfortune by the standards of Hungarian racing. Amid jubilant scenes among a crowd of about 20,000 – the highest for 36 years - Overdose won easily from Spinning Crystal, to whom he was conceding 13lb. Connections were relieved to get Overdose’s first race of the year out of the way and he will now travel to Britain, where his first objective is the Temple Stakes at Haydock before Royal Ascot. |
Yeah!!!
Look forward to his next races :) |

Racing Post...
Overdose a doubt for Haydock after setback By Neil Clark4.39PM 5 MAY 2009 HUNGARIAN wonder horse Overdose may miss the Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock Park on May 23 due to a foot injury. "He has an inflammation on his front left leg," said trainer Sandor Ribarszki. "We'll know more at the end of the week, but his run at Haydock is in doubt." Owner Zoltan Mikoczy said that Overdose had worked well on Saturday but on Sunday evening he was found in his box standing on only three legs. He added on Tuesday: "We called the vet straight away and his shoe was removed. He was given an injection and medication to reduce the inflammation. "The treatment will take one or two days to be effective and we will be in a better position then to make a decision about future running plans. We have sent the entry off to Haydock as today is the deadline for the race". Mikoczy said the cause of the problem is still unknown, though the inflamed foot is the same one from which Overdose lost his plate during his latest spectacular victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest last month. In addition to the Temple Stakes at Haydock, Overdose is also entered in two races at Royal Ascot in June - the King's Stand Stakes and the Golden Jubilee for which he has been installed as favourite - and the July Cup at Newmarket. Overdose was among 27 entries revealed for the Group 2 event along with Saturday’s impressive Palace House Stakes winner Amour Propre. |
The Budapest Bullet out of Royal Ascot - such a shame. I was looking forward to it. We may get Sacred Kingdom instead though..

I'm a firm believer that (as long as De Kock hasn't ruined him) JJ is infact the best sprinter I have seen since Silent Witness  I saw a replay of him winning a Gr1 in South Africa on the bridle. I know he probably didn't beat anything like Sacred Kingdom, but it was a high class field, and he made them look like selling platers. I do like Sacred Kingdom, but he's beatable. JJ could just burn them up early. I hope they don't run him in the Kings Stand though, I'd like to see him run in the Golden Jubilee and then the July Cup. Mainly because I think Amour Propre is very, very good over five furlongs. |
he's back not quite with a bang but with a win nonetheless after a 15month break :)
