Zenyatta- 103 Beyer

Did I hear correctly that she got a 103 for her win in the Milady? pretty impressive performance, again...

knickslions2 06-02-2008 09:25 AM

She is one big gal. Maybe she should race Big Brown.

10 pnt move up 06-02-2008 09:36 AM

Home in 29 1/5, wonder what the number would have been had the pace been quicker.

ArlJim78 06-02-2008 09:44 AM

you look at her, and watch how she races and its hard to escape the notion that you're watching something really special.

philcski 06-02-2008 09:57 AM

She really reminds me of Azeri, probably the most consistently excellent filly/mare of this decade. Maybe it's the whole Cali thing but she definitely has that look.

Hopefully both her and Tiago make the trip out for opening weekend at Toga.

She has to run a bit faster to be in Azeri's class, and beat better horses. So far all she has beaten is Ginger Punch who is only ok.

yeah but she did that pretty convincingly. she made Ginger Punch look like a claimer. I do agree that she has to move forward to be in a class like Azeri, but she has moved forward every race so far I believe.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-02-2008 10:12 AM

She's very good for sure. Even though I'd said months ago that she's better than NK - which will never be proven conclusively now - I really thought she'd be a lot better on natural dirt.

Coach Pants 06-02-2008 10:16 AM

Yeah she's like Azeri -10 Grade 1's.

blackthroatedwind 06-02-2008 10:16 AM

Can't you just write horse's names? Who the phuck is NK?

hockey2315 06-02-2008 10:18 AM

Another guy I passed on in the 6th round who could have scored me a few points.

Look at it this way, you're such a nerd that the only way you can even attempt to be cool, a futile attempt I may add, is to abbreviate horses' names.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-02-2008 10:42 AM

Hey man, everyone's doin' it

SCUDSBROTHER 06-02-2008 12:30 PM

I have never thought that Zenyatta looked like Azeri. I always thought she looked much better than Azeri. Zenyatta has always looked like she is a male running against females. Too big and strong for them. She had no pace to chase, and it made no difference at all. To me, she is getting better, and stronger. This would be like a Tranny getting her T shots.

Very trendy by TID's

parsixfarms 06-02-2008 02:15 PM

Anyone have any insight into her confirmation? As a half-sister to Balance by Street Cry, it has always stunned me that she only sold for $60,000?

she was bought before Balance won those races so her she had a relatively plain pedigree page...and big gangly fillies done sell that well, most or uncoordinated and injury prone. This filly is the exception,

Ginger Punch is just a step above a claimer, she is not that fast and really a very lucky winner of the distaff.

SlewsMyHero 06-02-2008 02:40 PM

She is one horse I would make an effort to see in person. If I still lived on the west coast I would make the effort to get to the track.

really? thats funny.

okay, forget about Ginger Punch then if you feel she got lucky and is barely above a claimer, but please tell me which of the unlucky speedy also rans from the distaff would give Zenyatta a lot of trouble.

Hystericalady probably should have won the Distaff but Ginger Punch is about as far from a claimer as you can get.

slotdirt 06-02-2008 02:59 PM

Didn't Ginger Punch just win a graded race on Oaks day last month?

Hysterical Lady was lucky that the track was a mess, otherwise she finishes worse off than she did.

On what basis are you possibly coming up with that? The mess of a track just as likely hurt her as it helped her. She'd run some big races when she was on fast dirt tracks.

I actually had something typed up but I can't bring myself to complete it. Jim is off his rocker on this one. She ran absolutely f'n huge in that race, where she started on the beach....

he might have typed it wrong because I don't disagree with him this bad, ever

There's really no evidence for your claim.

Three Grade 1's, two Grade 2's and "Champion" Status... that's like saying Lava Man is your average claimer...

That would be a lot closer to the truth. Ginger Punch has non-racing value that Lava Man doesn't.

yeah, the Louisville... 4 clear of Leah's Secret and 6 lengths in front of Lear's Princess. I was at Oaklawn for her "flop" in the Apple Blossom; that rail was dead as hell all weekend and Ramon put her right on it...

I think Lava Man caught a period of severe down time in socal, claimer probably not but to me he is not a legit grade 1 horse, at least how I look at him compared to oh, say Best Pal in his prime.

Ginger Punch has never ran very fast, in fact she is slower then a horse like Eight Belles, and much slower then Zenyatta who still has not run very fast. I said she is above claimer, but on figures not by much.

Slower based off what?

I know TG wise, she was faster then Eight Belles, although that is a bad comparsion becuase of 3 year old vs 4 year old

yea, older horse Ginger Punch has a 104 beyer and Eight Belles has a 102 so she is slower.

Look Ginger Punch is ok, but a 104 beyer is like 7 points behind azeri's top figures, and many of the bettor filles the past decade would drown her, such as Azeri and Riboletta.

You're right. That kills the "Ginger Punch = Azeri" argument so many of us were trying to make.
