RIP Nashoba's Key

I just got some terrible news. Nashoba's Key died in a freak accident this morning at Hollywood Park. She was in her outdoor pen and she was a little excited and kicked the fence. She got her leg stuck in the fence and broke it badly. They had to put her down.

Bigsmc 05-28-2008 01:00 PM

That really sucks.

RIP

That just sucks. I had the pleasure of meeting her connections at the Breeders Cup. What very nice people, my condolences go out to them.

ArlJim78 05-28-2008 04:11 PM

what a punch in the gut this news is. I really liked this one.

How long before PETA calls for fines? perhaps total elimination of fences?

Isn't there anybody else that is asking a few more questions about this one....was there some kind of unusal circumstance that caused this?

Obviously my heartfelt prayers to her connections for their loss...

freddymo 05-28-2008 05:03 PM

PETA where are you?

A lot of horses seem to die in freak accidents..

The Indomitable DrugS 05-28-2008 05:15 PM

They are probably in the process of examining how they can best profit from this right now.

If I was a bookmaker, my PETA reaction betting line as to why she kicked her stall might look like this ...

Roid Rage (-180)

A prankster told NK that Gabby Saez would be her jockey next out. (+140)

letswastemoney 05-28-2008 05:17 PM

She was incredible on synthetics

letswastemoney 05-28-2008 05:18 PM

in fact I believe she finished undefeated on synth

You are very right I deleted my horrible post..

Maybe St Liam and Nashoba's Key will be bred together in heaven... The resulting foal will race under the name Stumble Bum

Cajungator26 05-28-2008 05:50 PM

RIP Nashoba's Key. This game is tough sometimes.

i'm sure they can dig up an animal psychologist that would make the case that the fence kicking was no doubt a symptom of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by use of the whip during racing.

Habersham000 05-28-2008 07:42 PM

I don't understand why people feel the need to joke around with a horse that has just passed away....

R.I.P.

cowgirlintexas 05-28-2008 07:44 PM

:( Will miss watching her run. R.I.P sweet girl.

R.I.P.

Because insensitive pricks have no perception of situations or circumstances and thus continue to be, well, insensitive pricks.

mclem10011 05-28-2008 10:03 PM

That's awful......

:( Very sad for Carla Gaines, condolences to all involved.
RIP

These horses run for our enjoyment....when terrible things happen to them I don't know what goes thru someone's head to make stupid comments and jokes about the poor horse....seems like lately this message board has been more of someone trying to top someone else's stupid ****ing joke (which there are counts pages of them) rather then a horse racing board

The Indomitable DrugS 05-28-2008 10:46 PM

Yeah, Freddy lost me when he named SL and NK's foal 'Stumble Bum'

Coach Pants 05-28-2008 11:01 PM

I really don't know. I still don't know exactly what happened. I was told that she got her leg caught in the fence. But the articles I read say that she simply kicked it. Either way, I don't know if there would have been any way to prevent it. I think it was probably just a freak accident. If something scares a horse and they get excited, they can hurt themselves very badly.

my miss storm cat 05-29-2008 12:48 AM

What a shame.

Deepest condolences to her connections.

I hope so... I actually thought on Liam when I heard the news. So tragic.
