look for kent d
to be riding abit "safe" for the next two weeks.....:D
|
I understand what you are saying Hooves. But like in football, when you try to play safe and not get injured is usually the time when you get hurt. There are some many factors out of his control, I think you will see him continue to ride the same way. Maybe just a few less claimers in the next 2 weeks.

They don't look too live to me. |
Even the one who looks like lone speed?

She was lone speed last time and caved readily. Why is today going to be different? And, aren't you worried that one of the two inside might have speed? I don't completely disagree with you, and am guessing you see that her better races were at Belmont, I'm just wondering how much horse she really is. But, I guess she could win. I'm just sort of married to another horse in the race....but unfortunately one with no speed. |
The last one was longer and Ochre's not a bad horse (even though she crushed this one). . . The 6 seconds are obviously something to worry about but at least her win came at Belmont. I guess the 1 and 2 could have speed but it was a tough read for me. . .

you will not see kent hitting any small holes or ripping it up the rail in tight for a wile...imo

I wouldn't bet Born to Be at 3-1 if my life depended on it. Shouldn't mind the distance but her previous form is nothing special and Matz horses get overbet sometimes. . . |
There's one I like in the 8th today quite a bit- Red Hot Bullet @ 12-1 ML. Came home in :12 flat last out to win going away at Keeneland, and a repeat of that performance at the same trip would be very competitive.

My horse in the 7th probably moves up a little if the turf is really still "good."

Jolley did have a high-priced winner yesterday, though. . .

Look at this race. It's a 'wipeout otherwise". Born to Be, in today's 7th, was also in it.
In terms of ground covered Cato Major ran 46 feet more than the winner. This makes sense as she was chasing wide the entire race. Born to Be, on the other hand, like all of Matz' horses, was sucking up INSIDE until early stretch when she came out and put in a nice late run, without changing leads. Hard to believe she ran 19 feet more than the winner, as she was on the hedge till after they entered. In any event, Cato Major bids at the mile point and can't sustain it. However, Kent gave up very early with her and she was eased to the wire, almost losing 2nd. Grape Cottage, trying to move at the same time, bounced like a ball and ran terribly next time out at CD. As for Red Hot Bullet: she needs to be good to deal with that wide turn and long stretch today. It might intimidate her. |

Pretty Elusive could be the real deal. Yea she drifted badly. Curlin left for the parking in his debut as well. She flashed a little talent, maybe she can hold off Gomez today?
|
He only rides when he feels like it anyway. :)

Pretty surprised that Backseat Rhythm is 9-2, thought for sure she'd be lower.

me too

Jason Blewitt said something like "she doesn't seem to want to compete anymore since turning three".. Really? She looks like the same suck-up dirt horse who prefers turf that she's always been. Her last turf race can definitely be excused, as she had to close into possibly the slowest fractions I've ever seen on the new GP course (:25 2/5, :50 3/4, 1:14 4/5).
|
Was never a fan of hers and I'm certainly not a fan of the connections.
She's probably not much but she certainly could've been handled a bit better. |
Down to 5-2 now, that's more like it. Tough to find value in this race, but I'd say it's Borrowing Base at 9-1.
|
Well that worked out. I guess it was Javier's turn to get an unpressured stroll around the track. It's like the Belmont jockeys suddenly lose their minds when switching to turf.
|
Sentimental Union ran 2nd (and they went 1-2 around the track, if I'm not mistaken)
Need more be said. |
