Jockey Patrick Valenzuela, who has not ridden since December after he had his conditional jockey’s license in California revoked following an arrest for driving under the influence, has relocated to Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., and intends to begin riding there on May 31.....

Coach Pants 05-21-2008 02:35 PM

Alright!!

MisterB 05-21-2008 02:50 PM

How will Travis announce him???

;)

Coach Pants 05-21-2008 02:53 PM

"Leestown Teabag with PVal aboard take to the rail with a tremendous snort and run off to win by 5"

2Hot4TV 05-21-2008 07:09 PM

Patrick has been entertaining.

ShadowRoll 05-21-2008 07:14 PM

He's got no chance for a come back. Someone who's been so tainted by the specter of drug abuse will never be successful in this business...never mind.

ShadowRoll 05-21-2008 08:29 PM

As talented as he may have been as a jock, his best decisions were in the legal counsel he's hired. Some of the maneuvering they've done to keep him afloat has been brilliant. The hair follicle defense was classic.

cowgirlintexas 06-01-2008 09:47 AM

No Patrick.. Imagine that

Still hope Patrick finds the help he needs before it's too late.

Patrick V. is in fact riding today at Louisiana Downs. Our track handicapper for the afternoon is famous around these parts, he goes by the handle ntamm1215. He's working the simulcast signal for the weekend and has three pages of questions for P-Val in case he gets to interview him.

In truth, P-Val is wildly talented and will really give our local jocks a scare. He rides the hair of horses and that's what it takes often at Louisiana Downs.

Enjoy the races!!!

When I think of La Downs, I immediately think of Mecke and Jerry Bailey's ride on him flying down the stretch. I don't suppose you called that race or was it before you arrived down there?

Glad to know that.. thanks for the info. Look forward to reading Patricks interview if he does indeed partake. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction towards him finding his way out of the darkness.

That was before my time... I believe I was still in high school then! I started calling here in 2006... this is my third year.

At age 45 Patrick is still a very likeable character and when he is meeting his commitments the winners just come his way. Patrick is the only jockey I have seen that can make a good agent out of someone that has never seen a horse race before.

Injured again...

"Jockey Patrick Valenzuela, who is based at Louisiana Downs, has not ridden since July 11 because he injured his knee in a pickup game of basketball, according to his agent, Jerry Reites. He will be out of action indefinitely, Reites said Sunday."

Yeah o.k..

my miss storm cat 07-22-2008 07:32 PM

I love PVal...

Hope he feels better.

I want a new drug
One that won't make me sick
One that won't make me crash my car
At a fast food drive-thru
I want a new drug
One that won't make me shave my head
One that won't make my mouth too dry
Or make my fail a piss test

He wasn't planning to go back to CA. He was looking to get some kind of allowance to be able to ride at venues that won't allow him to ride there now.. (because they honor California suspensions..)

This will severely limit where else he can ride besides Louisiana. He was planning on moving on to Fair Grounds when it opens anyway, but wanted to be able to ride stakes horses when they shipped to other tracks.

True. He (and his agent and lawyer) said this from the beginning. PVal felt he could make his way back to the national stage via the Louisiana route. Obviously, getting clear in CA so he can ride elsewhere is nothing more than a band-aid to the real problem. It's not a long term solution to the problem.

Eric
