"60-P6" Debuts June 6/21...

This is has gone largely unpublicized:

The Sixty Minute Six, a new pick six wager that combines races at:

Monmouth Park,
Belmont Park,
Philadelphia Park and
Delaware Park

SniperSB23 05-21-2008 12:36 PM

Interesting, thanks for posting. The $1 minimum is intriguing with my budget and the ability to have all six races in an hour when I have other things to do is also intriguing.

-BT- 05-21-2008 12:37 PM

sounds like an interesting new gimmic, wonder if UBET and Twinspires.com are gonna be picking this up

Philly Park is kinda rough though, i can't tell ya the last time i picked a winner at that place

slotdirt 05-21-2008 12:41 PM

I dunno, I just try to find the short-priced Motion horse at Philly and it seems to work at least half the time.

"60 percent of the time, it works every time."

SCUDSBROTHER 05-21-2008 12:44 PM

15% take-out on nice carry-over days (with a $1minimum) would make it just about the best deal I have ever heard of in racing. Unfortunately we might get Pennsylvania bred maiden claimers to bet on, but it still has to be pretty popular. WHICH WAGERING SERVICES WILL TAKE BETS ON IT?

ArlJim78 05-21-2008 12:48 PM

love the concept, just don't like the tracks other than Belmont.

Yeah, I imagine I'll only be playing on the weeks that two of the races are from Belmont.

slotdirt 05-21-2008 12:53 PM

Seriously, you guys don't like playing PHA? I think that's one of my favorite tracks to play. I think it's a great wagering opportunity.

lemoncrush 05-21-2008 12:54 PM

Well, I'm sucker to play the Magna5 every week in the winter, so I'm sure I'll take a stab at this, even though I rarely, if ever, play Delaware, Philly or Monmouth (unless I'm on vacation in Las Vegas on a Tuesday afternoon). :)

will debut on Saturday.

Created by the joint effort of the four racetracks, the Sixty Minute Six combines a pair of races from two of the tracks with one each from the other two. The races will be chosen so all six will be run within a one-hour span. The Sixty Minute Six will be offered every Saturday through August 30 and has a $1 base wager.

If no one successfully selects all six winners, 75 percent of the pool will carryover to the following Saturday's Sixty Minute Six. The takeout rate on the new wager is 15 percent and the pool is guaranteed at $100,000.

That is awesome. While most of the guys over at PA aren't my style, one guy had been pitching this wager for quite a while to CDSN, and it seems like his efforts have paid off.

Is this like 8 minute abs?

I am having trouble determining if you are serious or not. PHA has some of the highest takeouts in the country, so I guess if you can overcome the large early disadvantage it might not be too bad.

tiggerv 05-21-2008 01:14 PM

This will be easy money because you'll be able to single the Scott Lake horse in 3 or 4 of the legs.

To me, Philly has the least interesting cards in the country, but if the goal is to just be able to survive races, then that's a lot different situation.

Kasept 05-21-2008 01:23 PM

Well.. here's some more news on this thing...

Just spoke to John Hines at Monmouth. This was supposed to have kicked off 2 weeks ago, but there are a few niggling contractual hiccups STILL being worked out..

They expect to kick off Saturday and should have a definite answer by tomorrow. I will have Dennis Dowd (NJSEA) or Hines on the Show tomorrow at 4:30 with details of how the bet should be called to tellers ("Belmont 7th.. Special P6" or whatever...) and which platforms/areas are taking the bet...

The format of 2/2/1/1 will rotate around, so it won't always be 2 races at BEL/MTH, etc... They are seeding it Week One with the $100k but expect it blows through that thereafter..

ateamstupid 05-21-2008 01:39 PM

Sounds great. Can't guarantee that I'll play, but I'll certainly give it a look and do some sort of write-up for it.

1 Dollar ticket.. Single Scott Lake and Joe Bravo...

ateamstupid 05-21-2008 02:00 PM

Also, this is one of the rare instances where "guaranteed pool" actually means something beneficial to the bettor and is more than an empty ploy to get people to bet more.

UPDATE: JUST SPOKE TO SAL SINATRA AT PHA PARK... PAPERWORK NOT COMPLETE FROM NJSEA SO BET WILL NOT START THIS SATURDAY...

ALSO OF NOTE, RACE SEQUENCE WILL BEGIN AT BELMONT 6TH...

ShadowRoll 05-21-2008 02:08 PM

They're probably stalling in hopes of getting more horses stabled at Delaware. Seriously, I'll be surprised if they're able to find a challenging race at DEL within the time constraints that doesn't scratch down to three or four horses. And this is coming from a BIG Delaware fan (okay, maybe I've gotten a little bitter).

slotdirt 05-21-2008 02:38 PM

Really, I don't mind Philly Park at all, and the 60-6 sounds like a glorious multi-race, multi-track wagering opportunity. I'm hopeful they have this in place by the time June 7th rolls around.

They're not stalling at all. New Jersey has failed to get their end taken care of... Delaware, NYRA and Greenwood got their portions done.

Just being facetious. And bitter.

slotdirt 05-21-2008 02:49 PM

With DEL and PHA involved, they really should have given PNG a jingle to see if CT and PEN might want to play. Then we'd really have our mid-Atlantic bases covered.

yeah, nothing like hitting the 1-4 legs at like 3-4PM and then having to wait until 730 to find out if some 10K claimer can do a wire job in a 4.5f race @ CT

AHHHH gotta love that slot money!!!!!!!!!!!!

That'd be classic. Funny thing is, generally speaking, the 7500 claimer at CT is running for the same purse as the ALW in Maryland.

no argument there

but CT horses have a hard time winning on the MD circuit.... which can't be said visa versa

slotdirt 05-21-2008 05:05 PM

CT horses have a hard time winning just about anywhere other than CT and PEN and the occasional Maryland State Fair score. There are rare exceptions, however. I was always a big Outcashem fan.

Kasept 06-11-2008 04:02 AM

Now delayed until JUNE 21st...

Kasept 06-16-2008 04:30 PM

Reminder... Debuts Saturday! Details here and on ATR...

zippyneedsawin 06-17-2008 04:40 AM

great.. another way for me to lose $$ !!

herkhorse 06-17-2008 06:58 AM

The 1.00 bet makes this intriguing for lowrollers like myself

AeWingnut 06-17-2008 12:17 PM

i wonder if we will be able to bet this at Twinspires. It only makes since since I can't bet Churchill Downs <--- they might as well close that place. I've watched a couple races on HRTV and the place is practically empty.

Sorry, this makes no since to me.

Kasept 06-18-2008 07:58 AM

We won't know the races that Sal Sinatra selects until late tomorrow, but heres the order of races from which he will be choosing... Philly andDelaware have already drawn Saturday's cards (Italics). NYRA will be out early afternoon Thursday and Monmouth is typically ridiculously late getting their card out Thursday.

Remember that 2 sites will feature 2 of the 6 races weekly on a rotational basis...

The 60-6:

BEL 6th, 3:40 (Always Leg A)
DEL 8th, 3:45
PHI 9th, 3:50

MTH 8th, 4:07
BEL 7th, 4:12
PHI 10th, 4:16
DEL 9th, 4:21

MTH 9th, 4:35
--------------
BEL 8th, 4:45
DEL 10th, 4:48

Bigsmc 06-18-2008 08:13 AM

I'd like to get excited about this bet, but I can't see myself putting any money into it because I virtually know nothing about Philly and Delaware racing and I don't really have the time to get into them. From my past experiences, if I dabble with tracks I don't know, I might as well give the money to a charity that can do some good with it, instead of wagering with it.

This one will have to be a wait and see for me.

I wish they would decide today what races they are using as I'm probably doing a short spot for NYRA on the races and it would be nice not to have to do all the races tomorrow night along with Saturday's Belmont card.

Delaware's 10th is a cheap claimer for ARABIAN steeds and geldings.

What a country.
