:( Did'nt understand a lot of it, but just kept imagining them cutting her up. Poor girl. R.I.P Belle

MISTERGEE 05-16-2008 02:10 PM

That is what I thought as well.

Looks like she may have been a little sick. What a gallant effort

sumitas 05-16-2008 04:50 PM

It is a great article. And Ellen Parker is a great pedigree expert. The article is spot on and we must continue to fight for what is right.

Commercial farms = factory farms

like puppy mills

While she may be a great pedigree expert and very knowledgeable the article strikes me as a little self serving. I wonder how many horses carry the cross that so worried her are sound and haven't broken down.

Did she say this before her other 4 races this year? Like AJ said a breakdown redboard.

pgardn 05-16-2008 07:34 PM

The autoposy made it very clear why
they put her down so quickly. Very
sickening, bone penetration...

I was certain she had a heart attack
as she was not moving when I first saw her.

HaloWishingwell 05-17-2008 08:38 AM

did she study all of the Derby runners pedigree? Any others have RAISE A NATIVE three times in their pedigree? Does she have numbers of the percentages of this cross that breakdown? I doubt it, her analysis is worth a good wipe to her.

A very informative article, dialogue was needed and you just hope someone will listen...it's a start and maybe something good can come out of Eight Belles death, it just isn't right what happened to her. We need all angles examined.

if all 20 horses are descended from native dancer, the cause celebre of all things wrong with the thoroughbred today, why didn't she just say 'i hope none of them break down'? why just the filly? but then, she wouldn't have been considered quite as prescient, and there wouldn't be as much drama in the article...
