Got Damn ESPN
I knew they'd show her laying on the track on her back. I hate this bullshit. Why do you have to show her laying there fighting for her life? What do you get by showing her laying there over just saying she went down? They showed her after the race then after the damn Vet talking about what happened. **** you ESPN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

100% gratuitous shock bullshit ratings crap. |
Yes lets just act like it didn't happen. Ohhh fantasyland! Pink unicorns and all you can eat cotton candy!!!
|
Obviously an awful thing, but was ESPN really that bad to show a brief glimpse of her down? It's the absolute worst part of horse racing and I wish there would never be breakdowns, especially on the national stage, but come on it's not like they showed the vet sticking the needle in her.

Including, after showing all the film they have of her laying on her side with the vets giving her injections and her legs straight out to the side, quivering - a pan shot, with the news announcer saying, "Watch here, in the corner of this clip of Big Brown, Eight Belles is the head in the right hand corner, you can see her bob her head and go down". And the overhead of her going down. I have every right to complain loud, long and publically to the news editor about deciding to show gratuitous video crap of a horse in severe distress and dying that adds nothing whatsoever explainatory to the story. You're free to contact him and encourage him to show more of it. |
It adds nothing to story? Really????
It's impossible to be rational with someone who is completely out of touch with reality. Good luck to you. |
In my house I'm more upset with the Viagra and Cialis commercials than Eight Belles coverage!! I can't even watch the KY Derby or baseball games with my kids anymore without them hearing about 7 hour erections 4 times in a couple hours!! :D

You trying to lecture me on the "reality" of animal death and euthanasia is beyond a joke. |

Nobody cares, ****. It'll take maybe two generations of your family to pass in order for you to be completely forgotten. You're a wannabe. |
Dam FOX should stop showing NASCAR wrecks and NBC...shame on them for showing hockey fights. And the dam news showing murder scenes. The discovery channel showing the Predator/Prey stuff needs to be stopped.
|
It's a story, just like a man getting shot at a liquor shop is a story, I don't see the problem with this...it's their job.

It's pointless to try and reason with her. She's a Lexington $50,000 millionaire and she looks down to all of us.
|
Easy to be experts on death when all one does is watch it on TV.

It is the press's responsibility to give the news and this situation ESPN's brief picture of the broken down horse was not irresponsible or over kill. Injuries and death occur in this sport and it is part of the story.
|
They briefly showed the horse and the trailers. Can you please tell me why that is so awful? Please. People need to get a phucking grip.

I know most of this stuff is not the same, but this knocking ESPN for what it showed is WAY, WAY over the top. |
Post McGruder Syndrome

Is this a good place to market my new horse racing DVD? It's called "The 50 most horrific breakdowns of all time"
|
Can I steal some anger my way a bit more?
Okay, here goes: If only Eight Belles had the good sense to go down before the wire, I would have had a nice exacta |
Just being real.
Just saying what others here have been thinking |
