Proud f'n Spell!

How the hell did that horse go off at 7/2?! Big time filly, folks.

Cannon Shell 05-02-2008 04:55 PM

Indian Blessing went too slow...

AeWingnut 05-02-2008 05:00 PM

I had Proud Spell on top but I expected a different order of finish
if I bet Proud Spell flat
she would jump a puddle and dump her rider

10 pnt move up 05-02-2008 05:01 PM

I did not get the odds as well

Coach Pants 05-02-2008 05:01 PM

I had the ex and tri and I'm live in the oaks/derby double a few times.

skippy3481 05-02-2008 05:03 PM

Good stuff. I made my bets earlier in the day at the OTB, and was kicking myself when I saw her at 7/2! I thought she'd be 3/2 or 2/1 at the highest!

Storm Cadet 05-02-2008 05:12 PM

Will pays??? What did you bet with my off track book? I hope he pays my Oaks Derby DBL! :D

jerry Bailey said her jock wasnt wearing enough goggles which caused the spike in the price

Was thinking the same thing in my car when Byk gave out the odds on Sirius as the horses were loading....I'm in the car saying What the F**k?

the_fat_man 05-02-2008 05:27 PM

This is one of those things that just doesn't make sense, I agree.

EVERYONE loved this horse. YET she still pays 3:1.

Now, THAT's VALUE!!!

Locks are paying $8.80 and people are bitching about the takeout being too high.

Go figure.

King Glorious 05-02-2008 05:32 PM

In reading people's selections, I don't see all that many people loving her. Now, after she romps, everyone's wondering how she was that price.

letswastemoney 05-02-2008 05:34 PM

It was a wide open race. She just ran 3rd in her last race. She was going against the highly regarded (and probably overhyped) Country Star, Little Belle, BSharp, and Pure Clan.

Now...why wouldn't she go off at 3-1 or higher?? That is a good looking field to me.

Just got back from the OTB and I've got her and about every horse that should win in the Derby for doubles. A couple of them for $5 Big Brown,Pyro, Eight Belles and Court Vision.

oh 8.80, how sweet it is. i love when they lose on poly. it just ups the price. on dirt this horse is far superior to the rest . the icing will be if i get this double

packerbacker7964 05-02-2008 08:10 PM

Yeah yeah I'm just saying it doesn't matter how much money you have on it just as long as you have the winner.:D

packerbacker7964 05-02-2008 08:22 PM

Only hoping I got the winner. I've got her to about 7 or 8 of them. Who do you like tomorrow? Who do you have running on the undercard?

I don't think he does. He doesn't have Colonel John or Denis of Cork. :p

Thanks guys... was live to 6 in the last, thankfully went back and played an all A ticket for an extra $2 ($72 ticket) and had the 3 and 8 as my A's in the last... hit some pick 6's in my day but none of them paid more than $14k!

Sure do, it's my favorite betting day of the year, even more so than the Derby :)

cowgirlintexas 05-02-2008 10:42 PM

Awesome handicapping Phil!! Congrats!! Who knows.. maybe you will pull of a "Oaks/Derby" double of your own tomorrow and hit the Pick 4 again!
Great job.. :)

Danzig 05-03-2008 06:00 AM

congrats on the great hit phil!!

Cajungator26 05-03-2008 07:31 AM

Congrats, Phil. That is awesome, man. :D

philcski 05-03-2008 08:11 AM

Special shout out to Steve, whose insistence on this filly got me to stick to my guns that the Ashland was NOT her real performance and she was easily the most likely winner yesterday.

Amazing!!! Great work!

I know ArlJim had the p3, and was angry with himself yesterday because he talked himself out of playing the p4, and would have had it too.

I'll redboard for him.

One of the benefits of understanding synthetic track races are best ignored when horses run on dirt.
