Barbaro in a sling - picture
![]() I hope he makes it!!! i pray that he does. he remains in stable condition on wednesday 7-19-6 lets hope we can get him into "stable" condition, if ya know what i mean, wink, wink, nudge, nudge |
Welcome back Paul,
Nice pic. Good report today. Cast was changed and he keeps fighting. It's a long way out of the woods but with so many rooting for him, I'm hoping he finds the path. |

hope so to, its still tough to believe the derbywinner was almost killed in the preakness, truely a historical event. thats 2 years in a row the derby winner has lost his racing career on the pimlico dirt. |

Now, after all the "bad stuff" that's been happening, some writers are pouring gasoline on the fire (see the thread about Arlington). Man! I'd love to see every horse go into the post sound and come out the exact same way. Seems to me, that like everything else in life, there comes a risk with trying to win. That's racing. That's life. Winners find a way to capture our hearts. And so do some of the "also rans" that give their hearts, and lives. Barbaro has captured many folks hearts. I sure hope he makes it. |

Also, prayers for Barbaro! And nice to see you back Paul! Stay a while this time ;) |

I was thinking the same thing miraja. Isn't Giacomo still racing or atleast in training? |

I don't think you can blame either specifically on Pimlico's dirt. Barbaro took a bad step, that could have happened on any track.( I don't know the answer for sure why he took the bad step, but I haven't heard many blame the track conditions that day).. and AA was nearly knocked over by another horse, the dirt has an alibi! |

I was thinking of AA on his turn for home. The track didn't cause Barbaro's injury. Most agree that it was an unfortunate step. And, no...I don't want to "open a can of worms" with those that disagree. We've discussed this a while ago. |
Dr Richardson says the next few weeks are critical insofar as starting the slow process of regrowing his hoof. After that we wait 6 months for the process to complete. Wouldn't we all love to see him walk, even hobble, without his casts ?
I guess he likes his sling and is even having fun with it so that's great. |
I just love that this horse seems to be so smart. How many horses would allow this stuff to happen to their body and still be accepting of it? Casts. Slings. You name it, he's endured it. Just seems like he knows. Everyday when I wake up I brace for the worst (a bad habit but thats the first thing I generally think when I click on this site) but he hasnt let anyone down so far. Hang in there Bobby!

little confusion, giacomo did win the derby and he also had two legs that underwent surgery. but i was referring to AA getting injured at Pimlico, and i do believe it is the dirt that is to blame there. i have an opinion just like everyone else.
|
Giacomo has never been quite the same hanger since that day at Pimlico. His hang in the Belmont was disappointing to say the least. Getting beat by Nolan's Cat is a disgrace at any level.

and because the place is a dump, i think it should be moved to AP, where the dirt is much safer., lol..... |

Do you actually believe that Scrappy T had bad footing and it wasn't because he just had take a good hit from the rider and veered into him? I do believe Afleet Alex ran in the Belmont last year as well. |
no this is a half factual attempt at continuing my assault on pimlico because i want to see magna buy AP and move the preakness to chicago,
where it belongs. |

Yep, Barbaro's personality, temperment, and intelligence are helping keep in alive. What a brave horse. Keep fighting, champ! |
Move the Preakness to Arlington? I will make a billion dollars before that happens.

First you said "thats 2 years in a row the derby winner has lost his racing career on the pimlico dirt." Wrong. Apparently you thought Afleet Alex won the Derby last year, but he did not. Then you said "the fact is two good three year olds ran thier last race of their career at pimlico." Wrong again. Afleet Alex won the Belmont in his next race. Get your facts straight. |

i like keeping my facts crooked, it gives angry people with little to do something to do besides be angry. so there my facts are crooked, not what ya gonna do >>>> |

OK, I had to laugh at this one. Scrappy T had a bad whippin' on the wrong side and ran into AA. But, OK, if you want to blame the dirt, go ahead. |

Some of us "get" your humor. Some don't. You've been welcomed back. Don't antagonize, my friend. OK? Roll with it and let it go. It just might keep you "sane". (Whatever that is). OK? |

Then you two should just ignore one another. Makes for a peaceful existence. No harshness meant. :) |
