Oaklawn Feature

Chuck's horse, Richwood Silver is leading coming into the stretch. Suddenly, Borel pulls up the horse and looks back over his shoulder. Then the rest of the jocks start pulling up. Gate wasn't moved off the track. We do it right here in Arkansas!!!

hoovesupsideyourhead 03-13-2008 05:22 PM

thats the worst thing ive ever seen,,,,,,,,

hailrazer 03-13-2008 05:24 PM

Only slightly worse than when they started the race before the last horse moved forward to load earlier in the meet. I think Terry Wallace was the last person at the track to realize what was going on.

Danzig 03-13-2008 05:26 PM

what the hell?!

Coach Pants 03-13-2008 05:26 PM

Wow.

hoovesupsideyourhead 03-13-2008 05:27 PM

well when you have ahorse ready and is winning the race at a price it does not get much worse......

Coach Pants 03-13-2008 05:30 PM

It's unbelievable.

SCUDSBROTHER 03-13-2008 05:31 PM

That was Chuck's horse? That horse was gunna coast in...Wow....What was amazing is the announcer kept calling even after Borel was sticking his arm up trying to tell everyone.

smuthg 03-13-2008 05:32 PM

SCUDSBROTHER 03-13-2008 05:33 PM

Would have to be.I think we at home could tell before this guy did.

Kasept 03-13-2008 05:41 PM

Guess no one is listening to Chuck talk about it with me on ATR right now...

cal828 03-13-2008 05:43 PM

Maybe it was a tractor malfunction. I've never paid much attention to how they move the gates off the track, but I did notice last time I was there that there are 2 tractors. Don't know whether it takes both of them to move the gate or whether one is just in reserve in case the other one won't work. Seems like if that was the case, and they can move it with just one tractor, they would have. Can't imagine why Terry Wallace couldn't see all that from the top of the clubhouse?

Not only leading, she was PULLING away, the only horse that was any danger was who I think was the 11 shooting up the rail, green silks, with the short stretch she holds.

I am a big believer that a bunch of hilarious **** happens as a test of testicular fortitude, this will all pay off when Chuck and Bob have a couple of stake winners in the barn....

Swale84 03-13-2008 06:13 PM

Chuck,
Tough beat the filly opened up leaving the turn and was home free

They used to use Clydesdales to move the gate when I first went to Oaklawn. Maybe they need to go back to that. Much more reliable than these new fangled thangs!! Gas is 319.9 in Hot Springs and 389.9 for diesel. Just out of curiosity, how much cheaper is it?
