ok, the Whitney is not very popular. Why wouldn't someone enter a horse just to get a easy check. 5 or 10% is better than the win money for some horses.

Heck the big horses could have all sorts of things happen and you could luck into a win doubtful but what the hey

Plus i figured that we talk so much about the supposed good horses that run today it might be nice to watch some from days when horses actually raced.

I like watching those old races because I had zero clue about horse racing back then (Scavs will tell you I still dont have a clue to this day)

How long before we again see 2 Derby winners in a thriller? And you can tell how good the other 2 horses were not only by how they maintained contact even when passed, but by the place payoffs on Alysheba and Ferdinand: $2.60 and $2.80.

He's a steward at NYRA now I believe, still like his calls over Durkins.

What ever happened to him, he used to call jump races also at Fairhill I believe.

I think this is the race that most dispells the myth that Great horse races make for great race calls.

The walkover wasn't a great race.... so it should be as boring as someone calling a workout.

The Seabiscuit VS War Emblem match race probably deserved to have a better call than some raspy voiced dude saying "They're head and head" over and over again and saying it like he's constipated.

I'm babying him. He isnt tough like Bubble Berry. 2 races in a week. I did run one 4 times in 5 weeks. Cant remember his name but I will think of it. His best race was the last one.

Much like the Seabiscuit v. War Admiral match race - the horse that is put to a constant whipping from the start is the winner...while the passively ridden horse gets upset.
