The Oscars

Why do people feel the need to sit and scream at "celebrities"? I guess I have a passing interest in who wins what, and I guess I respect those who really care who wins what, but can someone tell me why you care what Jennifer Garner says or why you would want to camp out in those bleachers?

Mortimer 02-24-2008 08:31 PM

i just saw headlines on a news site about two award winners btw. never heard of either of them. but then, i'm no movie/tv/celeb fan.

Alas I was wrong with the MDB reference sheez.....anyway I knew she was the "Alias" main character from TV but as far as movies per IDMB she was in the movie Catch Me if You Can with DeCaprio in a supporting role and she was in Daredevil the movie...more TV than movie person. Thanks Hoss for rescuing me from myself!!

Juno was one of the best movies this year it is a shame Ellen Paige didn't win best actress for her character

It was an o.k. movie. I found her character to be highly unrealistic.

Hoss I can't believe you didn't find her funny!!! The kid did a nice job with a pretty good script which may still win tonight....the performance of the year though is the villian from No Country for Old Men...for supporting actor

This dude made Hannibal Lechter look like a kindergarten child!!....this performance will be referenced for decades.....if you haven't seen it and your into scary characters you have to see this guy

The scene at the end of Michael C where she is essentially schvitzing (sp?) through her dress is priceless.....talk about early age incontinence while clothed!!

blackthroatedwind 02-24-2008 11:13 PM

I think she's great in everything she does.

Well I find him funny most of the time. Maybe that's just me.

BAH with the Oscars.

mclem10011 02-25-2008 07:08 PM

[quote=blackthroatedwindI'm glad Tilda Swinton won. She rocks.[/quote I felt Amy Ryan's performance in "Gone Baby Gone" deserved the award. She just chewed up the screen in every scene she was in, and was amazing. Having said that, Tilda Swinton has been very good for along time, I loved her work in "The Deep End" from 2001, and in 1992 in "Orlando". She is extremely gifted and talented, and it was nice to see her recognized, if not for this role, but for her work in general in her career.

Mortimer 02-25-2008 07:41 PM

Are you people telling me Amilio Estevaz lost out on BA....again!?

bad joke meant to appear edgy while being completely mainstream. i can't imagine the crap that didn't make the cut this gem passed.

"gay" didn't mean anything other than happy in the 40's so the first name makes no sense as something offensive other than sounding like adolph.

and look at that. he made hitler into titler. get it? he said tit.

and obama sounds like osama the same way hitler sound like titler.

so it's funny now.

right?

we would all be better people today if whoever wrote that was still on strike.

Coach Pants 02-25-2008 11:10 PM

Jon Stewart's delivery and facial expressions make the lame jokes.

hi_im_god 02-25-2008 11:13 PM

his norbit line at the beginning of the show was a high point. one of the few lol moments.

he's a very funny guy but the hangover of the strike was evident.
