Does Youtube have any of the great songs from the 80s they played on Cleveland radio?

The Lake Erie Monsters looked great out at iceland last week Morty, I think we can put our eggs in that basket. I was on hand for a morning practice and it was impressive.

Mortimer 02-04-2008 12:21 PM

Bidster;

Fine work...I just wish they would change their name.

Tried looking for A Rutigliano Super Bowl Team...great song...but to no avail. And I wish I could find the complete fight song with the CORRECT words...but I can't .

I'll bet MainCourse can't name the qb and starting backfield for the Browns' very first regular pro game......unless he tires looking it up,but don't think it's there anyway.

I would guess off hand Cliff Lewis was the quarterback and Marion Motley at fullback. I'm not sure if Lavelli or Speedie were backs or receivers but they played tons of funky formations back then. They were the 3 skill people that mattered back then...(they were receivers, so I guess I can't name the entire starting backfield...but I'm quite certain on Lewis and pretty sure on Motley...the other running back...not sure. ) Otto Graham took over at qb very quickly however his rookie year.

horseofcourse 02-04-2008 05:20 PM

It's the internets, morty, you can find anything. I missed Edgar Jones and Don Greenwood as their starting halfbacks most of the year. So I guess they started that first game. I did know their ends, qb and fb however. So I guess I get a 67 percent.

The Bid 02-04-2008 06:37 PM

Cliff Lewis at qb and backfield mates were Don Greenwood,Edgar Special Delivery Jones and Gene Fekete. Fekete also holds ,to this idea, Ohio States record for the longest run from scrimmage....88 yards.

Can give the reference upon request

horseofcourse 02-04-2008 06:55 PM

Where was MOtley...I know he was with them their first year and piled up big yards?? Or was it an Otto Graham type thing where they just started other guys the first game then went with the big boys after that??

The Bid 02-04-2008 07:02 PM

Let me check and see if I can answer that question. I have a bomb taped to my chest.

The Bid 02-04-2008 08:47 PM

I have been authorized to ask this question

Reference upon request

Name the years Cleveland won the pro fb world title...there are 10.

horseofcourse 02-04-2008 09:29 PM

I only count 6...Bulldogs in 1924, Rams in 1945, and Browns in 1950, 1954, 1955 and 1964. It wouldn't be right to count the Browns AAFC titles in 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1949. (I'm only counting NFL championships...no such thing as world titles.)

The Bid 02-04-2008 09:46 PM

'50,'54 , '55 and '64 as NFL WC.

'46,'47,'48 and '49 as AAC WC.

Here are the tricky ones:

'45 as the Cleveland Rams...NFL WC.

1924 as the Cleveland Bulldogs....NFL WC.

This answer has been supplied by an unamed entity. Please do not upset him as the bomb is still hooked to my chest and he has sent me out to deliver pizza with just one thought.....As follows

I ask for prayers

horseofcourse 02-04-2008 09:49 PM

I already gave the answers 20 minutes ago Bid??!! I still don't know why Motley didn't start the opener in '46. He was probably being punished for being a Bulldog by his Tiger coach.

The Bid 02-04-2008 09:53 PM

Horse, please understand I am only a pawn in this game. I do not know if answers being right or wrong factor. I do know hes in full control.

Would you like me to take anything back to him?

horseofcourse 02-04-2008 09:58 PM

I only feel bad I didn't cheat and go straight to the internets on the first question about their initial starting backfield...I only got one correct....it was the qb however. If I had cheated it may have caused bombs. I'm still not convinced on Motley however...he did start that season and was their leading rusher.

I did do internet cheating on the last one. I only knew the 9. I had to do internets on the 1924 Bulldogs.

horseofcourse 02-04-2008 10:01 PM

I need no internets help for the Cavs and Indians....

Cavs...............

Indians, 1920, 1948

They have garnered some indoor soccer world titles!! I'm sure the internets would supply those as well if requested.

The Bid 02-04-2008 10:02 PM

I will inform him and let you know of any impending action. I must sleep, its been an exhausting day. Shirley tomorrow will be just as difficult.

Mortimer 02-07-2008 12:21 PM

Thank you,Bid. Your did admirably in a very amusing way.

It was fun showing ' Mr. There's nothing you can bring up about Cleveland sports I don't already know' how little he does know with only 2 questions.

BOTH of which he failed to answer correctly.

horseofcourse 02-07-2008 12:29 PM

...and you know as well as I do that virtually no Cleveland fan other than myself would know Cliff Lewis started game one. (sorry I couldnt' come up with the halfbacks et al...you're right, I know nothing!!!)

....jealousy (how does that song go???)

Mortimer 02-07-2008 12:34 PM

ZERO for 2

Here comes oh for 3.....without looking this up...and you only have 10 seconds.....what Cleveland Indian is the only major leaguer to have hit 2 home runs in the same inning...from both sides of the plate?

ZEE-RO for 3.

the question marks were becuase I didn't look it up and was just answering as soon as I saw the question. I knew he did it in the same game...wasn't sure about the same inning. So you're right I didn't KNOW it...but I got it correct. I pretty much knew it.
