Jones will kill him.
Tito's goal should be
to get out alive.

Well you got your wish here as it reads like Roy kicked his ass rather soundly with two 10-8 rounds that made it a sparing match in the end as Jones is still the man.....

hoovesupsideyourhead 01-20-2008 07:23 AM

it was a typical don king fight....no one really pissed all smiles as they both bet payed.. funny thou in the heavy wgt fight.. andrew golata vs some dude from chi town ..abit younger..beat golata ugly..closing 1 eye.. but lost..

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzz

pgardn 01-20-2008 09:53 AM

I thought tito would lay
down for the payday.
He actually got off the
canvas to continue the
beating he was taking.

Old boxing instincts die
hard I guess.

ALostTexan 01-20-2008 09:54 AM

I thought it was a decent fight last night, far from a great one, but decent. Jones kept it interesting with his antics. Would love to have seen a solid hit from either fighter, which we really never saw in the fight.

Pretty funny that HBO knew it was going to be a bit drab and tried to play the glove issue up as much as possible.

I am really surprised Golatta
went the whole way without
biting or hitting below the belt.
He used to beat up people
in Poland and take their money.
The Eastern European version
of Mike Tyson.

Really can't say the same for Trinidad. Seemed like 75% of hit punches were on Jones' belt or below. I was surprised that basically nothing was said by the ref throughout the fight...

hoovesupsideyourhead 01-20-2008 10:18 AM

im thinking if jones wanted to he could have dropped em easy...just my opinion..no one wants to ppv and have it end in 2 rounds.

Cannon Shell 01-20-2008 10:50 AM

HBO's senior tour begins...next up Joe Frazier vs. George Foreman
then Roberto Duran vs. Tommy Hearns

Coach Pants 01-20-2008 10:59 AM

Yeah it was good seeing Roy in the ring again. IMO he's the greatest pound for pound boxer of all time.

Mortimer 01-20-2008 11:04 AM

blech!!

Jones likes to showboat.
He played around with him
and they both go home with
money and Tito did not get
killed.

Mortimer 01-20-2008 11:29 AM

If you people paid 50 bucks to see things you already know would happen in a card filled with brand new social security members.......well there's just no hope for us smart ones.

Have you observed film of everyone from Jack Johnson through present day?Have you read/heard what keen observers have said ...those who saw fighters from the 40's through the 70's...live? Those who cover it for a living and have done the same fine work I have?

The name Ray Robinson keeps coming up from all of them.

He was the very best out of an era in which the demands of can't be even closely matched by more modern day boxing since the 60's.

Yeah you've turned into Ann Landers lately. Post a thread on how to bake cookies and avoid double anal at the same time.

Clearly one of the best of all time. Sweet Pea was the best of his generation and one of the great boxers of all time as well.
