Godolphin watch, 2008

First runner of the year..... Palace Episode.

NoChanceToDance 01-12-2008 10:07 AM

Poor boy. He used to be good.

He was a very good 2yo.

my miss storm cat 01-12-2008 10:38 AM

3rd in what i thought was a nice field.

NoChanceToDance 01-12-2008 10:41 AM

But compared with how good he used to be, he has regressed dramatically.

Oh so what.

Sure, he's never lived up to that Racing Post Trophy win but really..... it's only that he's with Godolphin that you say this. It never gets old for you, huh?

Nice horse, he has his fans and we can live with him coming in a nice third.

NoChanceToDance 01-12-2008 10:57 AM

So what??

I was hoping he'd be a Guineas horse as a 3yo, maybe even an Epsom Derby horse. I was really looking forward to his three year old campaign........ that's what!

Hickory Hill Hoff 01-12-2008 11:58 AM

Can't wait until the carnival starts!

Yeah i understand that but it's not like he's the first not to repeat his 2YO form.

I'm not being sanctimonious here but if you're a fan of a certain horse, is it so terrible to just accept them for what they are instead of getting all bitter?

Horses like We Can Seek who had these flashes of brilliance, G1 winners... sometimes you just need to remember how good they were and move on.

I don't believe this is really about Palace Episode though... you can't resist a chance to take a shot at them. That's what this is about.

Hopefully Gotodubai will give us some extra insight since he's there. :)

Ya know what Gioia, you're wrong, but....... think what you like. I'm done.

ArlJim78 01-12-2008 12:45 PM

No, if I'm wrong I admit it or I'll preface something, etc. but here?

I'm right, period.

Not only are they the evil empire to you, you insist you know best on any thread where they're mentioned and then go on to chastise me like an idiot child in pm's for giving MY opinion.

You get this kind of weird joy from accusing them of intentionally ruining horses, stuff like that.

I AM right. It's not about Palace Episode.

This coming thursday is the first official day, but we won't start seeing the better horses for a few weeks, I doubt.

yeah I remember that aspect, in the beginning the fields were fairly nondescript. it kinda builds slowly week by week.

I don't like them. I never have. The way they train the horses, the way they treat their staff. The way they have ruined Newmarket.

However, this was to do with the horse. Whoever had trained him, I would have said the same. He was the horse I was certain would be a bit special, ya know. For him to turn out like this is quite upsetting. I cringe when I see him run.

It does happen to other horses, you're right, but I was adament Palace Episode was going to be a seriously good horse.

I often find the first few weeks the most interesting because I see horses from South America that I've never heard of and I like to see them compete against some of the English and Irish horses that will be out there.

I am fascinated with the South American horses that ship there. You can almost follow them blind and make a profit in the first month of the carnival.

So he wins and he wasn't "ruined" but you cringe when he's 3rd...

Because I'm so disappointed that he isn't winning these sort of races. Even when he won, it wasn't a big race, but I was happy for him.

I thought he should have won the race the other day. I was disappointed when you said he was third.

You were right about my dislike for Godolphin. Everyone knows that, but you were wrong about this horse. I was talking about him as an individual and not Godolphin as a whole.

His form may have regressed for any trainer, but I thought he would improve as an older horse. So to see him like he is now is very disappointing.

How the hell was I wrong about this horse when all I did was wish him (and Einstein and Hotstuff) luck?

If i were wrong about him, I'd say it. I've been wrong a lot but unlike you i think i admit it pretty easily and without being condescending and a hothead.

I wasn't wrong about him though as my expectations were not high.

Doesn't mean I don't like him an awful lot... I do.

my miss storm cat 01-12-2008 04:45 PM

Anyone know if Cherry Mix was retired? Not listed in horses in training anymore.....

Thanks in advance.

I meant you were wrong about this horse in the Godolphin context. Not the fact you were wrong about the horse himself, but you said I was disappointed with him as another kick at Godolphin and on this occasion I promise it was not. That is what I meant you were wrong about.

If that is your honest opinion of me, then fine.

I imagine he has been then. I thought they would retire him last year. Is he still a full horse, I can't remember off the top of my head.

my miss storm cat 01-12-2008 05:58 PM

As far as i know, he's a horse.

my miss storm cat 01-14-2008 09:38 AM

Probable starters, opening day of The Carnival.....

COLORADO RAPID
IMPERIALISTA
THIRD SET
MANY COLOURS
FAMILIAR TERRITORY
NAIPE MARCADO
PURPLE EMPEROR
COCOA BEACH
FIESTA LADY
LOVE DANCING

NoChanceToDance 01-14-2008 10:08 AM

When and why did they buy Colorado Rapid?

He doesn't seem like the sort of horse they would purchase. Just a handicapper over here for Mark Jonston, I think.

Hope they haven't got big plans for him.

Many Colours always looked like she could be much better than she actualy ha shown on the track so far, she will be interesting.

my miss storm cat 01-17-2008 10:54 AM

Many Colours - 1st
Fiesta Lady - 1st
Cocao Beach - 2nd
Love Dancing - 7th

NoChanceToDance 01-17-2008 10:57 AM

Fiesta Lady looked good and will be much better over 1mile + I imagine she will be trained in America after the carnival.

Which reminds me, what ever happened to Folk?

my miss storm cat 01-17-2008 11:00 AM

No idea. Her last workout was in October.....

Maybe she went back?

Not heard anything about her, though?

How many runs did she have in America after last year's Dubai carnival was over?
