Evening Attire

The old man gets it done!!!

sumitas 12-08-2007 03:15 PM

Go Baby GO !!!

He's always dressed to thrill.

azerica 12-08-2007 03:23 PM

Gotta love the old guys......

pmacdaddy 12-08-2007 03:29 PM

EA broke poorly (as I expected), Barcola had it fairly easy on lead (as I hoped). And Evening Attire nails him on the line. Good for the old guy!

Not so good for me...

ALostTexan 12-08-2007 03:50 PM

Graded Stakes at 9. Awesome!!!

letswastemoney 12-08-2007 04:51 PM

damn he's old

Downthestretch55 12-08-2007 05:04 PM

My only selection for the day. Way to go Evening Attire!!! You beautiful old warrior!

Did you notice his birthday is Valentine's Day? I just thought it was interesting...

My birthday is Valentine's Day too.
I am also past my prime.
I guess I should start cheering for this horse.

deltagulf 12-08-2007 06:42 PM

Theatrical 12-08-2007 07:11 PM

Didn't get to see the race, but I'd love to convey my congratulations to Evening Attire. Yeahhh, baby. :D

TheSpyder 12-08-2007 07:17 PM

I don't think there is such a thing as past your time unless you think you are. Cheer for the old guy, and when you think you are past it, look at what he did today at his age. That will change your mind...:)

I wonder what the record is for number of years between winning the same graded race?!

my miss storm cat 12-09-2007 12:31 AM

Cheers to the old guy... sorry i missed the race.

Merlinsky 12-09-2007 01:05 AM

That makes my week. Way to go fella. I'm so proud of him.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure someone out there knows this obscure fact. If he didn't set the record today for that, I would have to think he is in the top 2 or 3. My guess would be he stands alone here. You don't see a heckuva lot of grades stakes horses even running 6 years let alone winning the same race 6 years apart.

fpsoxfan 12-09-2007 07:05 AM

I was at a basketball tourney for most of the day, but they were loading in the gate when I got home. I didn't have a dime invested, but my buddies and I were cheering for him. That was pretty exciting!!

Kasept 12-09-2007 07:49 AM

Attire at the wire!

Do you think we can start a campaign to have NYRA bring back the 10F Saratoga Breeders Cup so he can run in at at ten? :D
We are very proud of him and appreciate all the nice comments about him.
Thanks
Joe Grant

Joe,

Congratulations again! You, Mary, TJ and Pat, and everyone associated with Attire, have the admiration and appreciation of racing fans..

Not only should we push for the return of the SAR BC, we should advocate a name change for it to the Evening Attire BCH! They're changing the name of the Californian to the Lava Man, so why can't Attire have one named after him?

Where do I sign the petition? :) Hurray for EA!

Here's a link to the video for anyone who missed the race:
http://www.nyra.com/Aqueduct/Broadca...kesRaces.shtml

Just scroll down to the Queen's County--it's the last race featured on the page.

Check out EA's profile in the stretch...he lowers his body mass and streamlines himself. Totally professional.

Good call by Durkin who seemed genuinely excited that the "old warhorse" did it by "running like an exuberant two year old" down the stretch.
I don't know why this horse ever started just walking out of the gate like that, but it sure gives him some added character.
The funny thing about a horse like Evening Attire is that not only are the horses he raced against early in his career (like Street Cry) long retired, but now their offspring (like Street Sense) are retiring too. Meanwhile he is still out there winning graded stakes races.

letswastemoney 12-09-2007 11:19 AM

They're changing the Californian to the Lava Man? So...Lava Man...might race in his own race?

Yeah! And Evening Attire could conceivably do the same thing...

Thanks to you and his other owners for taking such great care of him and bringing us such a fun and thrilling horse.
He has so many fans and so many threads on here.

Where do I need to sign for the campaign.

Oh and did you ever think maybe he would like to come south to the warm Fair Grounds for the winter, it would be good for those old bones... just a thought....:)

sumitas 12-09-2007 02:51 PM

EA's 1/2 brother, Dr. Rockett, stands at Mill Creek in NY.

Must have been some pretty pressing engagements in Boston for you to miss the big event yesterday.

They absolutely should rename a race after him. How about the Queens County?

Buffymommy 12-10-2007 08:12 AM

As I read the article I actually had tears in my eyes... :)

GO EA!!!!

Maybe he felt like the horse racing community needed another hero and he was telling us "HERE I AM!"
