War Pass made a statement in the BC! Will we get "Back to Back" BC Juvy winners to be in winner's circle the 1st Saturday in May?

No chance.

sumitas 11-01-2007 02:36 PM

I wouldn't bet on it.

justindew 11-01-2007 02:42 PM

20-1 is criminal.

declansharbor 11-01-2007 02:42 PM

Zito has even said that this one has TC distance limitations. He's a hell of a speedball though, that's for sure. Back him up to a mile and he looks unbeatable, so far.

robfla 11-01-2007 02:42 PM

who on earth would bet on the Kentucky Derby with still over 6 months to go? No wonder these casinos make tons of money.

sucker bet

If you can get 100-1 or better on a horse you really like, it's worth a shot. But there is no doubt that the Kentucky Derby Future Wager offered by Churchill Downs will feature more than one terrible wagering opportunity that the public will run to the windows to take advantage of.

I can see why someone might toss $100 around, like 4 $25 wagers, could be the best $100 you have ever spent from a juice perspective starting from about January until the first saturday in May.

Rudeboyelvis 11-01-2007 03:06 PM

Maimonides opening @ 75-1, currently 60-1...CHAAA CHIIIINNNGGGG!! :D

For the casino, maybe.

Indian Charlie 11-01-2007 03:34 PM

those were about the fairest future book odds i've ever seen in my life.

however, ready's echo at 75/1? that's nuts. the horse hasnt even worked out since his debut this summer.

SniperSB23 11-01-2007 03:47 PM

If you like War Pass then 20-1 is a heck of a better option now than getting 8-1 in the first Derby Future Pool when he either will have only run in the 6.5 furlongs Hutcheson where he'd likely romp or won't have even raced again yet. I'd much rather take a shot at 100/1 on an impressive maiden winner here than play the Derby Future Pools at much lower odds.

Depends... by far my most satisfying win ever (and close to most profitable) was Smarty Jones at 150-1 in January when I KNEW he was the best 3YO in America. The casinos learned a lot from that though (by all accounts, they took a beating on him winning)... horses that would normally be 100-1 or 150-1 after an impressive win are now 50-1 or less.

It isn't something you place your stake on but for 1/2 or a normal win bet, it's an entertaining proposition.

whodey17 11-01-2007 05:22 PM

This Saturday will be exactly 6 months from Derby 2008. I like these odds and why not take a chance.

War Pass sure was impressive and I believe he will remain sound. I personally think we could be looking at greatness at mile or shorter.

Scav 11-01-2007 06:05 PM

If I had $100 to piss away, I would play it this way into these odds.

$20 Adriano - 250/1
$20 Coal Play - 125/1
$20 Sam's Passion - 150/1
$40 Hyrule - 75/1

2009 Kentucky Derby -

$100 on Colonial Klink - 10,000/1

ninetoone 11-01-2007 06:11 PM

What's the over/under on # of Pletcher starters?

Colonel Klink is the current 100-1 favorite for the 2010 "Land of Lincoln" stakes

Colonel Klink is taken by a horse by Monshee Mountain so I think it is Colonial, but pedigree query isn't the most reliable. I just found out about the no nuts, pretty pissed because I was already getting feelers out there for ya for the next big Illinois stallion....jk

I'll take Blackberry Road, the half brother to Vindication at 250-1 is definitely worth a stab. Carrol has a good one with a bright future.

He's got 6 months to figure it out. I'm not sure why he scratched from last week's Iroquois.

A friend of mine and I like to spend about $50 each, just for fun, on Future's bets in VEgas, knowing full well we probably won't win. It is fun picking one and seeing if they make it to the field in May.
This year we took Paint, Cave's Valley and Wicked Style (all at 125-1 or higher). It's pointless to take anything shorter than 75-1 at this point.

And speaking of 2-yos, did anyone see the Empire Maker baby debut for Frankel on Sunday at Churchill Downs? Turn Away was his name I think, and he looked great.

MisterB 11-02-2007 08:54 AM

Wait until the Left coast starts to unless their fury. :)

PSH 11-02-2007 09:49 AM

2008 Future

$100 win on Into Mischief at 150-1.....

Worth a stab for a cool $15k.

Who is Etched? I saw that he was 25-1....the same as Pyro. Race record? Breeding?

Nashua winner owned by Darley and trained by McLaughlin. Could be off to Dubai though so would be a giant waste of money at 25-1.
