Does the breeding arm of the industry realize that in order to have a strong market in which to sell race horses, a race horse industry actually has to exist, and that horses running on an actual race track is sort of integral to that paradigm?

He was on his way into the claiming ranks......

Than Dutrow got his hands on him.

I know a lot of Buddha's have sold at sales and what not, but I don't know if I've ever seen an offspring of Buddha in an actual race.

Amen brotha! But the sheiks and the Coolmores have endless $$$ to keep propping up the saturated industry... just like slots prop up the sport in general.

I've often wondered what the industry would be like today if Coolmore and the Sheiks didn't arrive on the scene in the 80's ....

Maybe we wouldn't have one?

They're usually the ones pulling up the rear.

i had forgotten he'd won a gr 1.

they need to get stingier with the graded status.

You talking about Buddha or Stormello?

Stormello was a flat out runner. You have to factor in the connections on that guy. Should throw a few runners before its all said and done.

The Indomitable DrugS 10-31-2007 12:52 AM

For a Stormy Atlantic out of a Carson City mare - he could really carry his speed a long way.

A stallion I would be very interested in would be Day Pass. He was brilliant - and than was shipped to Dubai last winter and naturally ruined.

He came back late from Dubai with Discreet Cat this year - but he hasn't even recorded an offical work yet.

I can't imagine he will stand for any kind of money - being a cheaply bred horse with less than exceptional looks - and only two lifetime wins...however, he was a monster talent before they finished him off....I have a feeling he could throw a few good horses.

Stormello's trail of tears

Seemed like a good fit for the Malibu and the Strub series in general imo.

Not with $600K earner Arson Squad plus a goodly number who've won over $100K without stakes wins, like Up an Octave, from his first crop out there. 2007 auction yearlings averaging $13,500, 2yos averaging $29,040. I would have said $6.5K to $7.5K but if the market will bear it....,

Buddha's oldest are now 3, has 2 SWs this year, one in NoCal (Glorification, a 3yo) and one in Luziana (Hisse, a 2yo). Hisse is also his leading earner at $98, 805. Whereas at the end of the year of 2006, when Brahms's oldest were 3, Arson Squad had a $372,450 bankroll and a G2 win (Swaps S) to his credit. Brahms is mopping the floor with Buddha.
