Who plans on making it here to Florida this winter?

TBD Starts in 40 days ......you can hardly wait?

No definite plans yet, but my wife's got relatives near Tampa Bay and we were talking about driving down near Christmas. Usually stay at a dog-friendly place on Treasure Island.

Only been to TBD once, but was a fantastic time -- almost New Year's Day and I'm standing outside in a t-shirt. Around here that time of year, DEL has already closed and they're adding anti-freeze to the dirt at PHA. Plus, there's the flea market down the street from TBD, and I have to admit that I'm a flea market kind of guy.

There are a couple of dog friendly places here. I live less than 3 miles from Treasure Island. Great dog beach about 7 miles from Treasure Island. (I have 2 Border Collies and a Lab mix.)
And....yes...there is a pretty big flea market down the street from TBD.
Hope we have some great weather then, too.

I've needed a reason to go to Florida...plus it's close to my dreaded big 3-0, giving me even more excuse! :D

I will be celebrating my "dreaded" 4-0 at Tampa Bay Downs this coming April . Party already in the works.

30 is not so bad. It was 31 that got me. 30 was a novelty....then when I turned 31 it was like....wow....I'm not 30 anymore.....now I'm on my way to 40.:eek:

I will be in Venice Easter week in March and Presidents day week in Feb. Would love to meet some DT'ers and spend a day at Tampa Bay Downs either week or both perhaps. Are any of the Tampa residents golfers? Are either of these courses nice or which is closer to Oldsmar: Hunters Green C.C. or Tampa Palms CC. Might try to get in a morning round before the races. If Sumwon or K&S are running might have to make a third trip. Thanks in advance for any feed back.

I see Southwest has $69 Flights Long Island (Islip) to Tampa. Interesting...

We've had a trainer or two of ours go to Tampa during the winter. Economically it doesn't appear to make a lot of sense, but I'm not the trainer. I guess the "go there to break even" and "freshen up your horse" and "claim a few" might be the target.

I haven't been there in a few years but it's always been "OK" to me. I don't remember any of the local courses. Good luck and enjoy.

I love Tampa. IMO, the surface is better for the horses than Gulfstream.

No A-Rod, but George will be there if he has one in. He always shows up to watch his horses run.

Im in...gonna be after the first of the year. To be honest, Gulfstream doesn't hold alot of appeal to me, so I'm happy with a Tampa only trip.

We will hunt shark in the morning.

Then we will swim with the dolphins at the Sequarium in the afternoon.
