Schrup on ESPN

I can't believe it. WHO RUNS THIS INDUSTRY? Hank and Schrup on the same set. The world is ending

That was troubling

Scav 10-27-2007 12:19 PM

Seriously, Hank is trying to be funny today also because all these people are closing in on his job.

Cannon Shell 10-27-2007 12:20 PM

I want to see Hank doing the X games

Picturing Hank on a snowboard makes me think of the guy on the bomb in Dr. Strangelove.

Oh you meant commentating. C'mon participation would be so much more fun.

Chuck: where can I find shoe info on the BC races?

I doubt you can find it to be honest...

Mayne has been announcing it and it is also on the BC live webcast.....2nd/3rd/4th in the filly race had caulks and War Pass also had caulks

Scav 10-27-2007 12:33 PM

How great is Kenny Mayne, so hysterical

Payson Dave 10-27-2007 12:36 PM

That segment on Kids at the OTB was great.....There is a concept there that the industry needs to further investigate....

TitanSooner 10-27-2007 12:36 PM

"beyer shmeyer, I use the sheets.." that kid was funny

Merlinsky 10-27-2007 01:31 PM

I hadn't noticed the piggy bank on the desk between Kenny and Hank. Hilarious when Hank started talking a $40 win bet on Commentator and Kenny puts his hand on the pig and starts easing it across the table toward Hank.

ALostTexan 10-27-2007 02:15 PM

I thought Hank and Schmuck were going to throw down. Just what we all need, those two mud wrestling.

Loved the kids segment, too.

Scav 10-27-2007 02:16 PM

I love that Euro dude, he is awesome. I seriously think I need to go to europe and party down with all these cool people. BRILLANT!!

ALostTexan 10-27-2007 02:21 PM

Derby Trail field trip. I'm in...

Merlinsky 10-27-2007 02:49 PM

How is it nobody did the research on why Lady Joanne is pronounced "Joanie"? All 3 of those monkeys, and I love Kenny, were all like 'screw it, it's spelled Joanne' but it's named for somebody (I think the owner's wife) who spells and strangely pronounces her name in that way.

Merlinsky 10-27-2007 03:41 PM

Hank asking Kenny if his brain's gone soft is like Michael Vick asking Nancy Reagan "are you high?" They kill me.

Who is the British guy who just said that Dylan Thomas is the best horse in the world.....Is he kidding?

I hope Better Talk Now runs it down his throat.

Not at all, Dylan Thomas has been rated the best in the world right now. Of course the rest of the world seems to eat up the turf horses so take it with a grain of salt. He did win the Arc though so nothing to sneeze at. Hasn't put a hoof wrong. (Til perhaps today, he isn't as good on soft going)

Wasn't that BTN that was dragging his hooves just getting onto the turf to go into the gate? Wow talk about a horse going 'I don't wanna! You can't make me!" I like that horse as a general rule, he and Shake the Bank are always fun to see.

ETA: Ah they both sucked, oh well.

I don't want to hear any excuses.

Merlinsky 10-27-2007 04:01 PM

"Excuses" nothing, it's a fact Dylan Thomas is a heavy horse, they tend to sink into the turf. That said I don't give a flying crap, I wasn't obsessing about any of the horses in the Turf.

trifecta124 10-27-2007 04:03 PM

His wins in Europe at this distance were 3 - 6 seconds slower than English Channel....That happened today as well.

Ok

Merlinsky 10-27-2007 04:12 PM

Dylan Thomas ran more this year and until today it was 4 G1 wins to 2. English Channel's loss to Better Talk Now was a fraz slower than DT's 10 furlong race. I don't believe EC beat the Epsom Derby winner either. They're both top horses but as the jock said, he was in a disasterous situation on the backstrech, it was hopeless on this surface. EC is still a top horse and certainly the top American turf horse right now. Apples and oranges still considering the track condition so I'll just say don't beat down on DT too much. Just give EC credit for his effort and let's move on.

Coach Pants 10-27-2007 04:29 PM

Euro fans would be wise just to take a day off. Really.

Coach Pants 10-27-2007 05:02 PM

Does Laffit Pincay III really talk like that or is it shtick?

If he really talks like that then he is a jerk off of the highest magnitude. The head jerk off in charge.

Aren't ALL European times slower than American, with the exception of the Del Mar polytrack which is slower than molasses. Plus, they carry more weight in Europe.

stonegossard 10-28-2007 10:20 PM

Todd Shrupp is by far the worst person covering horse racing on the whole planet. Besides being annoying as hell the guy has a horrible opinion. It was great seeing him on ESPN trashing War Pass saying the horse wasnt much and would NEVER get the distance. They shoulda had him on after the race. Todd Schlupp is the exact reason tv remote controls have mute buttons....they should replace the button with a picture of his face. He actually made Hank Goldberg look good.....and that aint easy.

and run uphill at some tracks.

no one can seriously argue that slower times in europe at equal distance means euro's are slower than american grass horses.

it's like saying $20 is the same as 20 euro's.
