Here we go!

11 top races..

Maryfield would be a fantastic start....

NoChanceToDance 10-26-2007 03:31 PM

Wow, how did you find that???

That track is one of the worst i have ever seen. If the turf isn't soft the drainage must be the best in the world.

Great pick on that one. I am able to watch the races on the Breeders Cup website. The track looks awful, but Maryfield sure did close on the outside to get up. Nice little $1 super of over $6,700 on that one.

Real pissed at myself from a touting standpoint because I had the 2 on my thing and changed it to that rat Baroness Thatcher

ALostTexan 10-26-2007 03:35 PM

Ouch, just saw that one.

Nice to start out with a $374 Exacta...

kgar311 10-26-2007 03:35 PM

If somebody is at the track please find a gun, give it to trevor denman and let him pull the trigger. Maryfield made a gigantic move and didnt get a call until she was under the wire. Something needs to be done about him.

Very good point. You could her moving nicely down the stretch. He is 0-1 this year in BC races.

brockguy 10-26-2007 03:38 PM

achill island up next, if he wins, its the start dreams are made of..

kgar311 10-26-2007 03:41 PM

All favs out of the money, 40-1 second and the super pays 6800????????????????????? wtf

whodey17 10-26-2007 03:41 PM

I like the 6 horse here Gio Ponti if for nothing else but the name.

I know I needn't play the "I wonder if you could do it better" angle -- but are you serious with this?

Missing Street Sense last year is one thing. Wasting time wringing your hands over the fact that he didn't have a super crisp call when nobody could see a GD thing until just outside the final sixteenth seems a bit over the top.

Then again, that is to be expected, I suppose.

Perhaps Maryfield was easy to find if Maryfield was the only horse you were following around the track. Cut the guy a break on trying to announce ten horses in the middle of a Jersey monsoon.

Too rational, I'm certain.

NoChanceToDance 10-26-2007 03:50 PM

Money coming for Achill Island. Top price 9/2 (on betfair) now.

I do understand the monsoon factor but the move in itself was spectacular! you couldnt miss it and hes calling the horses on the rail. Anything outside the 3 path hes blind to.

whodey17 10-26-2007 03:52 PM

Pretty even betting race with the 8 being the fav with 10 MTP at 3-1.

IrishofNDMan 10-26-2007 03:57 PM

Cherokee Triangle!

kgar311 10-26-2007 04:00 PM

I like him too, but with this surface this race has become a complete crapshoot I think.
Figuring out how they will run on a course that is a little wet and/or soft is one thing, but this bog makes it really tough to predict how 2yos will perform.

whodey17 10-26-2007 04:03 PM

If I was at the track or had a way to wager I would take a flyer on the 12 Domestic Fund at 9-1

NoChanceToDance 10-26-2007 04:06 PM

Done on the wire. Ouch.

brockguy 10-26-2007 04:06 PM

Damn

IrishofNDMan 10-26-2007 04:07 PM

Hopefully that tri pays good!

Here was my play in the BC Contest on here:

Juvy Turf
Cherokee Triangle
Achill Island
Nownownow
Strike the Deal

Put some good money on these races today to try to gain more for tomorrow, boxed those 4 for $1 in exacta and tri's. Thought Cherokee Triangle would run much better though.

Coming wide around the home bend hasn't seemed like much of a problem. Good news for Excellent Art tomorrow.

Oh that sucks man. You will get them tomorrow. A nice little $8k+ super for the 7-8-2-5

ArlJim78 10-26-2007 04:10 PM

the race calls could not be any worse if you ask me..

I thought he got third, too. That sucks, sorry.

I hope it wasn't Frankie's fault. Although that wouldn't surprise me if it was.

brockguy 10-26-2007 04:16 PM

had to play the cat here, he could make the field (or me!!) look stupid, Ive a saver on park Avenue Ball as my exit strategy

going with Lewis Michael, and playing Discreet Cat underneath him in 2nd and 3rd with almost everyone else in the field.

whodey17 10-26-2007 04:20 PM

I have always loved The Cat but I wouldnt take him here at 6/5. Horrible track, inside draw and who knows what to make of his Vosburgh race. I wouldnt be surprised to see him win, but if I had $20 to wager, I would look at Xchanger. We saw that horses can close in race 8 and I think this race sets up nicely for a come from behind horse like Xchanger.

No bet in this for me.

If the cat is anywhere close to his best form there will be only one winner, but that is a big if.

I'm also not sure how he will handle a sloppy track.

I do like Gottcha Gold.

Much also depends on which Corinithian turns up at the gig.

We can get 15/8 here about Discreet Cat.

Still not a bet at that price for me though.

IrishofNDMan 10-26-2007 04:24 PM

I need to see that Juvy Turf again, it looked for sure that the 5 Strike the Deal held on for 3rd. I didn't even think it was close! I just saw the finish again, how did the 2 on the outside get the 5?

kgar311 10-26-2007 04:26 PM

Damn, look at those P4 payoffs. Discreet Cat ain't bad, and the rest are over $24,000. Not a bad way to start out the Cup...

Many thanks to the winner of the first leg -- same trainer as Smarty Deb tomorrow in the juvenile fillies. Watch out for her tomorrow. Those horses from Seattle get reaaaaaaaal used to running in this stuff.
