Peppers Pride goes for 12 in a row!
Noticed that this horse is running a Zia park tomorrow in the 10th race and has won all of his 11 starts! Pretty uncommon anymore and hope he gets his 12th.:D

Land of Enchantment
Is it true that Zia Park is being renamed Pepper's Pride Park? This is classic horse for course. Guess New Mexico is truly Land of Enchantment.

I just thought that if a horse was going to have an entire thread devoted to it, it might be sort of nice if people knew some minor details about the horse.........like the sex. |
Pepper's Pride won today.....12 for 12!

I was merely trying to let anyone who happened to read the thread know the true sex of the horse. I happend to know something about the horse that hadn't been mentioned yet on the thread, and I thought I would share it. |
her sire, desert god, is beautifully bred, though unraced.

#12 in the bag today.. way to go Pepper :D

was it #13 ?
|
It was: Blood-Horse:
"Undefeated Peppers Pride earned the 13th consecutive victory of her career when she dispatched her rivals in the stretch run of the $182,460 New Mexico Cup Fillies & Mares Championship at Zia Park Nov. 11." Pretty amazing! :) Have to go back and watch all her races. |
The more famous she gets, the more people will bet her down to astronomically low odds. When she does throw in that clunker, the payoffs will be tremendous.
|
Clearly, she has no competition among NM-bred distaffers. Has she beaten local boys, too? It seems amazing that she can earn over $500K in New Mexico as a TB. Are they going to keep her at home, or seek a larger stage on which to shine?

She won her 13th in 1:10. The girl can run. Her pedigree is underwhelming. Amazing girl.

Have'nt seen the P.P.'s, but I think I only remember getting a notification for one workout prior to this race... Surely she has had more than one... Anyone know?
Whichever, I'm rooting for her to win . Go Pepper!! |
What a tremendous accomplishment. Reminds me of my pee wee soccer team that went undefeated. We were the talk of the town...
well not really. Didn't stop us from thinking we were. |
I know what you mean. Pepper's Pride reminds me of the 8th grade basketball team I played on back in 1990.
We finished the season 14-1, for a wining percentage of .933. Then in 1996, the Chicago Bulls went 72-10 for a winning% of .878. Despite the fact that our winning percentage was clearly better, people kept going on and on about how the '96 Bulls might be the best basketball team ever! What gives? |

granted she's not running against world beaters, but to show up and run everytime at any level without a hiccup is pretty amazing.
|
This is the time to play against her....the chances of her running a great race 16 times in a row is astronomical....there's a reason something like this has only been done by a few horses, it's hard!
At the very least, if you bet to show on the next horse you like...you'll get a dollar or two back...:) |

I have to root against her. I don't want even more horses to share, or worse, beat, the record that Citation and Cigar share, unless that horse is competing at the top level. --Dunbar |
Good for her. I hope she breaks all records. It would be quite hard for me to criticize a guy with a home bred New Mexico horse whom has won over three-quarters of a million dollars in 14 starts with her. I thought the goal was to put your horse in spots they could win?? Or am I missing something here?? It would appear to me the trainer and owner should be applauded...not derided for their accomplishments with her. They have put her in places she can win and have made a profit with a thoroughbred. And there is something wrong with that??

Just a local New Mexico icon if she does it is all. I don't have a problem with it if it gets done. |

Okay maybe the odds of her doing it aren't astronomical but...no one runs 16 good races with little trouble without something happening. |

I have no problem with her or her connections. As you say, nobody can really blame them for not seeking out horses that can actually run. If you can win that many races (and that much money) with a horse that doesn't have very much talent, why wouldn't you do it? I don't think anybody has "derided" the trainer or the owner in this thread. We've just been having a little fun with the situation. |

(Besides, doesn't Silent Witness REALLY hold the modern-day record with 17 wins? I bet he'll be really pissed if she passes him.) |
There's #15.
